Chapter 16: Confessions (Dex)

The next day, the boys had a mission. To confess to their crushes by midnight. Or the loser has to confess in front of everyone. So, they started practicing what they were going to say. Well, Fitz and Keefe were. Tam and Dex went to Atlantis, (without the girls knowing) to get their gifts for Biana and Marella. 

While they were gone and Keefe and Fitz were practicing, the girls became suspicious of what the boys were up to. They hadn't come down ever since after breakfast, and their door was close. 

"What do you think they're doing?" Marella asked, jerking her head in the direction of the boys room. 

"No clue," Biana replied, shurgging. The girls sigh. What was going on?

A few minutes later, Tam and Dex arrive home. They sneaked pass the girls and silently sprinted towards their room. When the reached, they found Fitz and Keefe laughing and slapping each other's backs. 

"Uhm, is everything okay?" Tam questioned, making a face.

"Oo-hh! It's nothing. We...were....just.." Keefe started saying but didn't finish his sentence and a laugh escaped his mouth. 

Fitz rolled his eyes. "Keefe and I were trying to practice but we kept disturbing each other with ridiculous faces and ended up not getting any practice at all because we couldn't concentrate. But we did manage to practice individually." he explained, giving Keefe a side-glare who was still clutching his sides. 

Tam and Dex rolled their eyes. They showed the boys their gifts for the girls (Biana and Marella) and Keefe and Fitz approved. How would it turn out? They didn't know....

That evening, the boys were getting ready. Taking deep breaths and squaring their shoulders. Dex had decided to just get it over with. So, he was going first. The others wished him good luck. How was the first confession going to end? 

Dex's POV

Dex thanked his friends for their support. As he stepped out of the room, he kept thinking to himself.

You can do it, Dex! It's Marella! And she likes you! Surely, she'll accept right? Just remember what you practiced.

Dex had asked Marella to meet in the Vacker's garden, which she agreed to. When he reached there, Marella was already waiting. And she looked as beautiful as ever. Her hair was tied into a low ponytail which made her face seem softer. (Note: This is is DEX's POV) 

She was wearing a yellow and white dress that was only up to her kneees. Dex approached her quietly and tapped her on the shoulder. Marella jumped and turned to face him, which made Dex's heart beat three times faster. 

"Sorry, if I scared you," Dex apologised. 

Marella shook her head forgivingly. "It's fine. I should have noticed you were coming." 

Dex glanced at the sky, which was now full of orange, yellow and pink streaks. "Beautiful, isn't it?" 

Marella followed his gaze. "Yeah." 

Dex slowly looked down and heaved in a deep breath. It was time. 

"Marella, can I....tell you something?" Dex asked cautiously, trying not to ruin the moment. 

"Mm?" Marella replied, still staring at the orangy sky. 

"I...I like you Marella. Like, actually," Dex confessed. 

Marella's head snapped to face him and her eyes widened. After a few seconds, she asked,"R-reall?" 

Dex nodded. He took out the box he had hid on his jerkin and opened the lid. Inside was a similiar bracelet, like the one Fitz bought for Linh, but it was gold and had a periwinkle heart attached to it. 

Marella gasped. "Is that...for me?" 

Dex nodded proudly and took her hand while slipping it on for her. It fit. Just right. "Wow, it's beautiful," Marella swooned, studying it. 

Now. It was finally the time. Dex inched closer to Marella, making Marella jump. But she didn't move. He leaned in towards her face and before he could stop himself, planted his lips on hers. 

Sparks flew in Dex's head and when he pulled away, he was smiling. 

"Marella Redek. Will you be my girlfriend?" 

Marella's eyes widened at Dex's sudden request. But a few seconds later, a grin grew on her face and she exclaimed, "Yes!" before kissing Dex. He kissed her back and neither of them pulled away.
