(Sophie's POV)
Sophie slumped against her locker and exclaimed, "FINALLY! SCHOOL HOLIDAYS!" (Idk what the elves call, 'end of year holidays' k? So, just excuse me for writitng this)
Her best friend, Biana Vacker, laughed at her burst. "Wow, you're really entusiastic for the holidays!"
Sophie gave Biana a look. "Of course I am! Do you know how hard these exams are? I've been studying my butt off and I totally deserve a break!"
Biana raised an eyebrow. "But you shouldn't be the one suffering. You have a photografic memory don't you? You should be like Keefe, passing everything with flying colours yet hardly doing any revision." Sophie just gave her a skeptical look. Just as she was about to walk to the leapmaster, Biana stopped her. "Hey, why don't we have an end of year sleepover? We'll invite all our friends! And have the best night ever!" Biana told her.
Something about the idea gave Sophie the creeps, (maybe it was because of the evil spark in her friend's eye when she suggested the idea) but she nodded and told Biana she'll call Dex and Keefe and tell them about the sleepover. When that was comfirmed, Sophie called out, "Havenfield!" and allowed the light sweep her away.
....
"YOU'RE GOING WHERE?" Grady exclaimed as soon as Sophie told him the news.
"To Everglen. For a sleepover," Sophie repeated.
"WITH THAT BOY?"
Sophie sighed. "Dad, his name is Keefe. Not 'that boy'. Plus, it's just a sleepover. Nothing bad going to happen. Besides, it's not like he'll return to the Neverseen. That was a long time ago, relax a bit." she assured her father. She knew he was trying to protect her, but seriously, he had to stop giving him this nickname.
Sophie then just told him she was just going to start packing and left a speechless Grady. While she was packing, she heard a knock on the door.
"I told you, I'm going for that sleepover," she said before anything could interrupt her.
"And I'm saying, of course you may go," the voice answered. Sophie turned around and found not Grady, but Edaline standing at her doorway. She flushed and mumbled a 'sorry' for being so rude.
"It's fine, sweetheart. I know, you're Dad can be a little overprotactive at times, but you know it's because he loves you," Edaline explained, walking over to where Sophie was standing, Sophie bobbed her head up and down. Her mum then gave her a tight squeeze before telling her, "Now, go. Have fun with your friends. You deserve it." Sophie nodded and finished up the remainings of her clothes before heading over to the leapmaster. She took one last glance at her mum, who gave her a confident nod before shouting, "Everglen!" and stepping into the light.
