The First Day

POV Rosalie

The next morning I change into the given black pants, tee shirt, and sneakers. I pull my hair into a ponytail and go down to breakfast with Lucy.

"Morning." Skyler says, sitting next to me. Lucy looks confused.

"Lucy, this is Skyler. Skyler, this is Lucy."

"Nice to meet you." Skyler says, shaking Lucy's hand. "Okay, so no offense, but you two have to let me take you shopping after training."

"Why do I have to?" I ask in confusion.

"Those clothes are swallowing you!"

"What kind of training clothes are there?" Lucy asks. I roll my eyes and keep eating.

"You're coming with us." Skyler says.

"I have no say in this, do I?"

"No." They say in unison.

"I was afraid of that. Fine!" I give.

"Yes!" They say in unison.

"We're taking the boys."

"Why are we taking the boys?" Lucy asks.

"What boys?" Skyler asks.

"Those boys." I say, nodding to Jeremy and Sidney. Skyler's eyes only focus on Sidney. I lean closer to Skyler to whisper. "Do you want to help Sidney dress or undress?"

"Yes." She says and I burst out laughing at that.

"What'd we miss?" Jeremy and Sidney ask in unison.

"You're both coming with us on a shopping spree. Skyler's using us as dress up dolls." I tell them nodding to Skyler. Jeremy groans in complaint while Sidney just stares at Skyler.

"What happened to Skyler?" Shauna asks, sitting on her other side while Miles sits by me.

"I'll explain it to you later." He says, easily understanding. I kiss him good morning and smile as he plays with the end of my ponytail.

"So Skyler's going to force us to be her dress up dolls after training. She's roped these guys in. Are you willing to suffer shopping?"

"Someone has to make sure they don't look like pansycakes." He agrees.

"Yeah, that's why you're agreeing." Lucy says with a scoff.

"I admit nothing."

"We have to get going. We'll see you guys after training." Jeremy says, standing. I kiss Miles again and stand to follow him.

"Sidney!" I snap, but it's Lucy's slapping him upside the head that snaps him out of it.

"Training, right." He says. I chuckle and shake my head as we walk.

On the way to the training room Jeremy and Lucy are back to their banter, amusing Sidney and myself.

"You gotta be self-confident to be friends with a Candor."

"What's that supposed to mean?" Lucy demands.

"You have no filter. You say the first thing that comes into your head."

"You mean like 'you're an idiot'?" Sidney calls up to them and I chuckle.

"Nice one, Sid." Lucy says before looking back at Jeremy. "At least we tell the truth."

"Erudite can tell the truth because we have the facts."

"I don't want to hear about your old factions. You're Dauntless now." Amar says as we enter the room. Not even two minutes later everyone is gathered so we can start. "Today we're going to start with shooting. Everyone grab a gun, unload it and reload it, then go to a target, take off the safety, and begin shooting the target."
