POV Rosalie

I rank second in my year and shock everyone when I don't take my time trying to choose a job or immediately go for the higher up jobs.

"You want Faction Guard Duty?" Max asks.

"Yes, sir." I say, handing him the clipboard back.

"Well, Rosalie, be at the Armory tomorrow at eight am to start your first shift. It's twelve hour shifts, seven days on, seven days off.

"Are you sharing an apartment with anyone, Rosalie?" Max says, quickly moving on.

"Yeah. Miles Gunner."

"They got married three weeks ago, remember, Max? That absolute shit show curtesy of three people that aren't even here anymore?" Veronica says and Max nods.

"Right. Forgot there are three married couples this year. When Miles comes in to choose his job you both can look over your apartment options together." Max says and I'm dismissed.

I stay behind and talk with my friends while they choose what to do with their lives and where to live. Sidney looks highly amused when he leaves the room.

"What?" Miles asks.

"Apparently one of the leaders in for the Faction Guards had requested me weeks ago."

"Didn't you want that job anyway?" I ask.

"Yeah, but it amuses me."

"What is wrong with you?" Lucy asks him, rolling her eyes.

"That's a long list." He says and I chuckle.

"Miles, Rosalie."

"Rosalie?" Miles asks.

"Living arrangements." I explain and he nods his understanding. I stand back while Miles looks through his choices, ultimately choosing to do the same thing I am.

"Now, living arrangements. Here are your options." Max says, pulling out the papers. Miles and I look over it all before choosing a two bed, two bath apartment. It's small, but it's perfect for just us. It's on the third floor on a completely other side of the compound than I'm used to. We're given a map to the place and directions on how to set our fingerprints and reset the code before being sent on our merry way.

We continue to wait with the others until everyone has a job and place to live.

"Well, very few, if any of you, chose to do what we expected, but most everyone got what they wanted." Max announces. "Those who chose Faction Guard Duty, you have a list of supplies you should get before work tomorrow, your commander and/or platoon lead will explain more tomorrow."

"Yes, sir." We say at different times.

"What floor did you get?" I ask my friends. Jeremy and Lucy are literally the only two rooming alone and even then it's on two different floors. Sidney and Skyler and Four are on the third floor with us though.

The five of us go off to do our own things-order things we'll need, pick up gear, or-in Miles and my case-look at our new home. It doesn't take as long as I thought it would to get to our apartment, but my dumbass has some trouble with the locks. I'm still working on it two hours later.

"You're hopeless. There's even step-by-step instructions." Four says, chuckling.

"In our defense, it's in another language." Miles says. Four takes them from me and frowns.

"They gave you the Italian version. Why did they give you the Italian version?"

"Why is there an Italian version?" I ask, irritation in my voice.
