At breakfast Eric sits next to me and I can already tell I'm not going to like what he has to say.

"What?" I say, drawing out the word.

"Look, I'm just the messenger."

"What does Max want me to do now?" I ask irriatedly.

"He wants it to be your fears the initiates go through today."

"Is that today? Has it already been two months?" I ask Jeremy and Lucy and they snort their amusement.

"Rose, you were on assignment or in the hospital for most of initiation. If you weren't off in Amity or in the hospital you were working. If not working you were being forced into a second job. Yes, time flew by." Jeremy says.

"Huh." I say thoughtfully before turning to Eric. "The Final is on Friday?"

"Yes, Rosalie, the Final is on Friday." He says, sounding way too amused for my liking.

"Are you sure? That doesn't sound right." I say and he sighs.

"You were working the first week of initiation, the second week you were helping train as well as hand picking potentials for the Middle and Amity, the third week we toured through the different factions and you tested your choices, week four-seven you were on assignment, week eight you were being drugged, and week nine you were recovering from said mission and drugging. The Final is in a week." Eric says.

"You kept creepily close tabs on her." Lucy notes.

"More like I was trying to find the right time to tell her that her sister is my mate, but Hayes did it first. After that it was to make sure I could update Tris on how Rosalie is. Now, Rosalie-"

"I can't even if I wanted to. I'm going to the other leaders to destroy Jennine's stuff today remember?"

"That's tomorrow."

"No, that's in, like, thirty minutes." I say. Eric brings out his phone to look at his schedule and swears violently.

"The initiates can go through my fear landscape." Jeremy offers.

"Thank you. I'll see you at the tracks, Rosalie." Eric says, standing he takes one step away before turning back. "Is Miles coming?"

"Is my overprotective mate coming with us to my mentally and emotionally abusive mother's lab?" I ask and then look at Eric. "No, he has work."

"Oh, well, I'll meet you at the tracks then." He says and I salute him.

"Poor man. Thanks to Max's poor planning skills he and Veronica are pulled left, right, and center. And this thing with Jennine isn't helping." I say.

"I never thought I'd see the day I would pity Eric Coulter to the point of helping him, but that day has indeed come. I should go find Four to let initiates in my mind. Good luck, Rose." Jeremy says, squeezing my hand.

"Thanks." I say.

"Did you ever think our lives would get this hectic and insane?" Lucy asks me.

"No. And this is without kids." I say, standing to begin walking to the train.

"So you and Miles are still firmly on the 'no kids' side?" Lucy asks.

"It's not that we don't want kids so much that we shouldn't have kids. We're both experiment babies. We have no idea what our DNA mixing together would do and we don't really want to risk it. Hence getting my tubes removed last year."

"Any plans to adopt?" She asks.

"Not any time soon. Not with all this shit with Jennine and Max going on. I literally just said life is super hectic when kids aren't even in the question." I say with a small roll of my eyes.
