POV Rosalie

For the last two weeks I have lived with my mother-in-law, and she's great, but it has put a major kink in my sex life. Our apartment is also not even halfway cleared of bugs. There's still no clue as to why someone's targeting Miles and myself. On the day of the Choosing Ceremony Wonderboy orders Titan to take the longer version of our route.

We've paced our route three times when Titan slams on the breaks so hard I fall back into the Bus.

"What the fuck, Titan?" Spitfire says while I just groan. I look up to see her pulling herself back into the proper position. She jumps down to help dig me out of the mountain of weapons that fell on me.

"Shit, Phoenix! Are you okay?" Titan calls.

"What happened?" Quarterback asks.

"Look at the time." Titan says, helping Spitfire pull me up.

"I'm good. Go." I say, nodding towards the front of the bus.

"The Dauntless are about to-yep, here they come." Wonderboy says. Spitfire and I jump up to get a look at the initiates and my jaw drops.

"Is that a Stiff?" Brainy asks.

"Let's not forget what happened to the last Stiff we got." Spitfire says, nudging my arm. Brainy rolls her eyes and doesn't comment.

We watch them get on the train, an Amity failing the very first test of initiation. There's always one.

When we reach the point the others get back on the bus Spitfire and I stay in our spot thanks to the mess under us.

"What exploded in here?" Brainy asks.

"Titan's excessive use of breaks!" I answer. As soon as under us in clear Spitfire and I jump down one at a time.

"Leave it. Titan will clean and organize it when we get back." Wonderboy says when I go to start cleaning it. I put my hands up in a surrendering gesture and sit in one of the chairs.

Titan sighs when he parks at Dauntless. He faces the five of us who are looking at him with crossed arms.

"Spitfire, go with Phoenix to the infirmary to get her head checked out. The rest of us will watch Titan clean up his mess." Wonderboy says. Titan waits until Spitfire and I are off the bus before moving towards the jumble of weapons he'd created.

"At least we don't carry bombs!" I call towards them, walking backwards. Quarterback's laughter greets me in return.

I'm fine, but Spitfire is having to escort me to the infirmary. I tell Miles, knowing he'd be pissed if I didn't.

Yeah, that means you're fine. He says sarcastically.

"You told Pyro?" Spitfire demands as he gets to our side just after we pass the Armory, which we have to forgo for the moment.

"I'd be pissed if she hadn't." Miles defends.

"Alpha thing?" She asks.

"Alpha thing." He confirms. He looks at my forehead and gently touches it, fingers coming away with blood.

"Huh. Didn't know that happened."

"You were buried in literally pounds worth of weapons." Spitfire says as if it's obvious.

"What happened?" Four asks. We turn to see him leading initiates.

"Titan slammed on the breaks, I lost my footing, and ended up buried in a pile of weapons." I say and he rolls his eyes.

"We're headed to the infirmary next and you kind of need it."

"So I have been told." I grumble.

"Why did Titan slam on the breaks?" Miles asks as we walk.
