Atresha and Darshnel had found themselves in a maze of books. It hadn't taken the two very long to find themselves looking at each book section for the book they so desperately needed.
"Well, this is going to take forever," Atresha said, looking around a corner in a long corridor of book shelves.
"Yeah. I'm thinking the same thing," Darshnel said as he followed Atresha around the corner.
"I think you two can rest your hopes here," a voice from the end of the corridor coily announces.
"You see, I am the fate of Destiny, and you two are not going to make it past me. You might as well turn around now and save yourself the trouble," A cyborg from the end of the hallway said as he hovered and then turns. Heading towards a seat, the fate sat down as battle droids line up across a bridge in the next room. Atresha pulled out her sword and it unrolled.
"You two going to do things the hard way, then? Alright, but you might want to know, only one of you can pass on through here," Destiny said as Darshnel and Atresha walk onto the bridge.
As they do so, a door behind them closes, and a clear field can be visibly seen as it passed through the bridge.
"So you are saying that only one of us will survive. Well, we will just have to see about that," Darshnel said, readying for battle.
"No, you misunderstand me. Only one of you may pass. Not because one of you will be destroyed physically, but because one of you will be destroyed in their destiny," The fate of destiny said, then ordered the droids to hover to hover off the bridge.
"You see, this is a field of probability. It only allows so much weight to pass through. Weight being the founding principle behind the power of the fates themselves. So if you are to be wise, then I would only send one of you forward to claim the prize, but be warned the person who doesn't pass through will be ruined from this point on," The fate said, then waited patiently as the two look at each other.
"I don't think I want to cut the fate of another off, but at the same time I definitely don't want to lose my place in the sun," Atresha admitted out loud.
"Yeah, I agree, this should be a decision left up to the two of us. So let's give it some thought," Darshnell said, undecided.
"Why don't I give you two the motivation you need for this?" As Destiny said this, he pulled a lever and the wall started slowly moving towards them.
"Ouch! That's not good," Darshnell said. "Sorry, but we need to make a decision, and quickly."
The two panic for a minute. The wall started to get faster. This seemed to bother Atresha for a minute. Then she smiled.
"Last one past the field is a rotten egg, anyway." As she said this, Darshnel looked at her and stopped panicking.
He smiled back at Atresha. Atresha dashed off, followed by Darshnel.
As the two race towards the field, the Fate of Destiny sends out a modem like sound.
"Don't let them get past the field," He told the battle droids. The droids fly towards the ever closer Atresha, as she volted off one of the droids, but is hit by another. Darshnel springs his self forward with his shadow, and as Atresha breaks free, they both cross the fields at the same time, shattering it. The droids are knocked back by a shock wave.
"Okay, who won?" Atresha said, looking at Destiny.
"Neither of you. You idiots," he said.
"Dumb beyond all belief," the fate said, frustrated by this turn of events.
"I take offense," Darshnel said, then a thought interrupted him.
"Duh, that was the test," he said, looking at Atresha who was confused.
"What do you mean?" Atresha said, looking at Darshnel.
"He means you have no Fates. So either of you could have crossed the field, but in doing so that person would have perished," Destiny said, angry with the results.
"So you're saying that if we did it your way, we would be one team member down?"
"That's right, so you passed the test, but I am still not letting you get the book," he said, as he turned his arms into huge cannons and got ready to fire.
Skalesha dropped from the ceiling knocking the Fate out.
"Are you okay/" Trina's voice from above yelled.
"I'm alright, I just wounded my ego," Skalesha said as she eyes Atresha.
"And by the way, your sister and Darshnel are down here," She said as Trina lands on Destiny's armor, cracking it.
"Well, you two seem to be doing okay," Atresha said, walking over to the two.
"What happened to Thadass?" Trina asked as Thadass appeared at the other end of the bridge.
"Well, I could hear you guys from half way down that corridor. It's as if you guys have no idea of how to catch the enemy by surprise," she said.
Atresha laughed. Suddenly, with no explanation, the chair Destiny had been setting in turned around. The group paused for a second, then looked over at it.
"Are you going to check it out or what?" Darshnel said.
The group moved towards the book, which was glowing. They opened the book and marveled at what they had found.
"This changes everything," Atresha announced, because they had not only found the rule book of the Fates, but a guide to the secrets of life itself.
