Chapter 14

"Hey shadow are you done yet?" Sonic groaned "your taking forever!" Sonic said laying down dramatically on shadows couch waiting for him impatiently from downstairs "your so inpatient i only took a few minutes" shadow said rolling his eyes as he came down the stairs with a plain drawstring backpack filled with supplies "well it felt like a few hours to me" sonic mumbled

"Stop complaining just an hour ago you were worrying over which snack you would bring" shadow said standing in front of the couch waiting for a certain hedgehog to get up "it's difficult to decide when They makes such rules" sonic said "it cant be messy, cant be greasy, cant be smelly, no this no that" sonic said "they just don't want to deal with you attracting animals with your chili dogs" shadow joked "whatever that wont stop me" sonic said standing up "now come on slow poke your burning daylight" sonic joked shadow just rolled his eyes in response as they walked out the door meeting up with tails knuckles and Amy all having their own bags to accompany them "hey you guys ready?" Tails asked excitedly "of course we are"

"Great now we just have to wait for out ride so we can load our bags in, were is your bag sonic?" Tails asked noticing his brother wasn't holding anything "my bag?" Sonic asked looking around and started to panic "i dont know" sonic said thats when shadow held up a red backpack "you left it at your house so i ended up bringing it" shadow said which sonic laughed nervously "right.." sonic laughed taking the bag "oh sonic isn't this going to be fun!" Amy said leaping up onto sonic hugging him tightly

Knuckles tried prying her off him since sonic obviously didn't like it Honk Honk "hey you guys are we going or what!?" A voice said from a big white van that pulled up in front of the house "manic!" Sonic said after a short second of realization and ran over to the van looking through the passenger window "hey bro long time no see, wow i guess tails was being for real when he said you changed!" Manic said in amazement "hey im here too!" Sonia said from the back "sonia! Your here too?" Sonic said excitedly "obviously i couldn't let manic stay alone and drive a car when he doesn't even have a license-" "hey thats a secret!" Manic said "and i just wanted to see you" sonia said ignoring what her other brother had to say which manic just huffed.

Sonic opened the door and jumped into the passenger seat "okay now lets hit the road im dying to get this over with" sonic said with a dramatic sigh "ok then, everyone ready?" Sonia asked as the last door shut everyone now in the vehicle Amy, knuckles, Sonia and tails were in the back while shadow was in the very back with a whole seat to himself which wasn't a problem since the van was rather big, sonic looked at him through the rear view mirror until manic adjusted it as he started backing out sonic sighed "why the long face bro?" Manic asked while driving "huh? Oh its nothing" sonic said "are you sure? it doesn't really seem like nothing"manic said

Everyone else minding their own business either chatting with each other or just relaxing which was mainly shadow so they're conversation wasn't heard, there was short pause sonic wasn't quite sure how to reply he should be happy but now he just feels bummed out "whats wrong? If it's because of a certain something..or someone you need help with I'm all ears" manic said with a smirk nudging his brothers arm

Sonic laughed "you giving me advice? Thats new" sonic laughed crossing his arms "I'm just saying, unless it's something else that you might want to talk about?" Manic said "maybe.." sonic said manic gave sonic a look as if asking him to continue "its just because of all that's happened these last few days, and i cant believe that this is almost over" sonic said with a sad smile "but?.." manic said sonic sighed "but.. I'm not exactly happy about it either?" Sonic said "i don't know its stupid" sonic continued, shaking his head and stared out the window only paying attention to the reflection that stared back at him with their bright crimson eyes.

Manic just decided that it would be better to leave the conversation at that since his brother seems to have not figured out his own problem yet, so he left sonic for his thoughts and kept driving as the sound from everyone slowly dying out.

After a few hours the car was silent only the sound of the engine and the soft snores from the sleeping group was audible "hey, manic?" Sonic said quietly trying not to disturb the others "yeah, whats up?" Manic responded "I'm starting to rethink all of this. What if i change my mind about going back to my own body last minute" sonic admitted "why, whats holdin' you back?" Manic asked

Sonic sighed slouching back into his seat "back when all of this first happened, me and shadow made this deal, a deal that we would never see or talk to each other again" sonic said "i was hesitant at first since i wasn't sure but i agreed anyway, and now that i think about it when this is over i want to see and talk to shadow, I've only gotten to know him for two days..but its been the best two days of my life i know I'm probably being selfish but.. i don't want it to end" sonic said his voice serious.

Manic was about to say something until he hit a dead end were the road stoped only forest surrounded their path, manic put the van into park and looked his brother in the eyes "well why dont you tell him that?" Manic suggested "but what if it'll just make it worse" sonic said starting to get annoyed by himself for sounding like such a downer "well its worth a shot anyway never hurts to try" sonic smiled "thanks manic" sonic said hitting his brothers arm playfully "no prob, im actually better at this than i thought" manic said with a confident smirk stretched on his muzzle

"Now if you could would you like to do the honors of waking those lazy bums up" manic said "with pleasure" sonic replied with an evil smirk.
