One day later...
We made it back to the house yesterday and I realised about 5 weeks until the wedding. 5 weeks of Nico unless. I don't know something might happen. I mean what would happen. I don't even know if we're dating or what is happening. Cathalina and Bryce arrives today. I'm so excited. Cathalina made an excuse for Nico but she had morning sickness so they didn't want to risk the car drive. Nico had people gathered around the whole house in preparation incase if something happened. He met everyone checking their backgrounds the whole day so I haven't seen him. We have a family dinner tonight. Apparently to talk about the American Don and discuss what we have to do to prepare any sort of ambush and attack.
I stood on the gravel in front of the house chills running up my spine as the sun disappeared under the golden horizon waiting for Cathalina to arrive. Romano hasn't arrived home yet and I'm officially worried he isn't even answering any of my calls. I clicked on his name again and and it automatically delivered me to his voicemail, I just spoke in an uplifted voice, "hey rom rom, it's me again...um... I have some stuff to tell you when you get back... You're starting to worry me by not calling back. Please come back soon. Mimi."
I sighed and dropped my phone down again.
I whispered out to the cold air, "calling Romano again for the 50th time today."
I turned around as the light from the house illuminated Dominic's face, his eyebrows bunched together in confusion, he leaned against the concrete rail of the steps I explained, "he's not replying I'm getting worried." He pushed off the rails and asked, "he'll be fine he's the 2nd best assassin he'll make it alive."
"You always say he's the 2nd best, who's the best?"
Dominic shrugged as he came closer I just took a small step backwards, "this person that goes undercover is the best. Comes shoots them. Leaves no traces no evidence just pure death in his path."
"Huh. Interesting and there is no clue on who this person is."
He shook his head his blue eyes darkening, "nope, no fucking clue Mia." Something about Dominic has unsettled me these past couple of weeks mainly for the fact that he's very, I don't have a clue. Secretive, jealous and is completely compliant towards his father.
Dominic pulled out a cigarette from his front black dress pant pocket and offered me one. I shook my head. He lit it up and smoked it. Left me in utter silence while we waited for Cathalina's car to come. It was awkward and made my palms sweat as I swiped them against my dress.
I asked, "so how have you been."
Dominic scoffed and he looked me up and down aiming his eyes at my hands, "nervous Mia."
"No," I say.
"You should be...You're in the fucking mafia. You do one thing wrong, a bullet goes straight through you, you just never know who you should trust. Even if it's the person you have fallen for," Dominic says as he stands so ever close to me the tips of his loafers are touching my heels. I took a step back, "could say the same to you," I say coldly.
"I have respect for you bravery."
I clenched my jaw. Dominic switched topics as he asked, "what are you doing tomorrow afternoon? I could use the company."
Meeting...12:00pm...Michael. And gross.
Playing it off as subtle as possible, "going out with the bridesmaids. Do you remember, Sofia, Anna-"
"Yep I remember."
I turned to look at him as he exhaled another puff of smoke, "Anyways..."
Dominic looked at me and gave me a devilish grin as he asked, "I can tell when people are lying by the way."
