April and I opted to hang out that weekend, she claimed to know a spot she said I'd probably love so I agreed without hesitation. The local street faire was taking place, and I hadn't gone in years so when she offered I was eager to see what had changed.
"Hey april, nice to see ya again." I greeted her. "Good to see you too, I heard there's some kind of contest going on down the street, we can go check it out." With that we set off towards a classic new york pizza eating competition.
It was wild to see how much the competitors can eat so fast, and the cash prize made me seriously consider dressing fluffy as a human and entering it into the contest. The potential of being caught and the full roster squashed my hopes of easy money however, so we settled for watching.
"Jeez, im impressed and terrified." I joked, april rolled her eyes. "If you think this is impressive, wait until you see how some of my friends are." She scoffed.
"Ooh, more friends? You should introduce me sometime." I smiled at the thought of getting to know more people, my moms would be fawning if they heard their baby was making so many new friends.
"I would, but they're a little shy when meeting new folks.. I can ask them though." She smiled, and I nod eagerly. "That sounds great, I'll do my best to not come off as too much."
The street festival was riddled with nostalgia, and we soon sat on a bench, worn out from everything we had seen and done. "We should have a girls night sometime, most my friends are guys, so thats not a common occurrence with me." April suggested.
"Ooh, sounds cool. I'm in, besides self care sounds heavenly right now." I sighed with a smile. We talked about all sorts of things, slowly walking towards our homes. We didn't catch sight of the lingering shadows in the alley, the bulky figure grabbing april and I in one fell swoop.
"Augh- foot clannies?!" April grunted while she struggled. "You know these goons?" I asked mid thrash. "I know they're criminals, and a massive pain." She responded.
I swung my head forwards before hurtling it back into the creep's, who groaned in pain, loosening his grip just enough that I wriggled free.
"Insolent pedestrian, cease your struggle." The scrawny figure growled and I flipped him everyone's favorite finger, before flipping my backpack open.
"Fluffy, get them!" I called, the silverfish lept out with a hiss. In a moment fluffy was on the brute's face, clawing and biting. For such a large guy, he screamed like a pansy.
April grabbed a baseball bat from her bag, knocking the brute as fluffy lept back to my waiting arms. I turned and tossed the silverfish as the other who tried to flee with a device of some sort, soon both criminals were laid out flat on the concrete, out cold.
"You.. have a silverfish?" April asked, panting. I huffed and puffed, before nodding anxiously. "Yeah, found it in an alley, I swear its friendly.." I mumbled.
"Well, if its docile.. can I see it?" April asked. I nodded, and held out fluffy for her to see. Fluffy gave a quiet chitter, observing the new human. "Usually these little fellas are kinda snappy, it's impressive that you managed to mellow one out."
"Thanks, you're a good swing with that bat. Remind us to stay off your bad side." I grin. "You don't mind I've got a.. strange friend?" I asked.
"Hey, im a little strange too, welcome to the squad." She chuckled and we both rushed to say goodbyes and head home before the goons could wake up.
