Of course, Riddle was still tired. Extremely tired for that matter. In fact, almost everyone was.
Looking upon the Unbirthday Party, smiling faces all around as everyone helped to paint the remaining white roses.
It felt... odd to him. Being a harsh contrast to how it normally was in the Heartslaybul dorm. And sure, in a way, he was happy too. It was all over with his overblot out of the way.
But it didn't exactly feel right. Even if he was doing this as an apology to everyone. Yet he tried to bear through it to help finish the last remaining roses.
Then you lightly taped on his shoulder, and he flinched. Snapping over to look to the side of him. His eyes met your (e/c) ones. And he could recall that you being the one to help him, despite being obviously magicless. As well as remembering that you and the A-Deuce duo had always gotten into... so much trouble.
You quickly flashed him a smile before asking, "um, Riddle... could I speak to you privately? Please?"
He was still skeptical, questioning what it is that you wanted to ask him as he nodded. "Alright, what is it?"
"Follow me first." You then turned to lead him a bit away from the group of people. Feeling it best to say this privately. Incase someone overheard and make fun of you for it. Like Ace or Grim would.
"So why do you want to talk to me then?"
He crossed his arms and looked upon you. Trying his best not to glare like he normally would. He needed to change for the better, he reminded himself.
"So..." You internally cursed at yourself for stumbling over your words.
It was rather easy for you to tell that Riddle must still be somewhat upset after his overblot. Which of course, you didn't particularly blame him for.
It was also the reason why you were trying to spit out the words you wanted to say to him. Yet his presence was still intimidating like it had always been. Even if he had changed mostly.
You did try to not allow that to get the better of you. He simply gave off that kind of aura.finally continuing. "I just.. What I'm trying to say is that, I'm here for you, Riddle. I know we haven't exactly known each other for that long, and I may not understand everything... But I'll still be happy to listen if you ever need someone to talk to."
You coughed nervously, believing that helping Riddle was the right thing to do, especially now when he needed it most. But the feeling in your gut had told you otherwise. Like you were only causing another problem now. But you couldn't think like that, you reminded yourself.
Though, this only appeared to puzzled the redhead further. Questioning Why you would tell him this. He couldn't recall a time he had ever been nice.
He could feel his face start to heat up to a bright red while his throat swelled from the overwhelming emotions he felt.
"Could I.. Give you a hug at least?" You suddenly ask. Feeling weird just standing there in the silence with him.
Though, maybe you should have took it as an answer, you wondered.
He stared at you in utter confusion. "Eh?"
Before anything else could be said, you pulled him into an embrace. That was still awkward while shocking him further. But he didn't fight you like you were afraid he might. Which you wouldn't really have blamed him, this was overly weird. However, he instead simply allowed it. His arms limply wrapping around you, much to your surprise as well.
You softly pat his back, seeing that it was clear he wasn't used to this kind of friendly contact. Still making you feel strangely awkward. But at least it was better, you supposed.
"(Y/n), where are you?! Don't go running off like Grim, there's still more roses to paint!" You heard Ace's voice yell, slightly ruining the moment.
Right, the roses, you thought. Moving to slowly pull away, knowing you two needed to get back to the others. Surprisingly though, Riddle held a tighter grasp on you.
Please, Riddle thought as his arms tried to wrap tighter around you. Let me have one good thing. While you continued to try and leave again.
"Riddle, we should go back to the party now. The roses still aren't finished," You reminded him. Freeing yourself from the hug. Knowing the others would start yelling for you again. "You can come to the ramshackle dorm whenever you'd like."
A disappointed look crossed his face. The feeling of not wanting to return ever present again. Perhaps he'd just have to keep going through with it, he sighed.
You gently grab his hand and lead him back to the party. This would just have to suffice for now, he decided. Still feeling disappointed as ever when walking back towards the rose trees and the group of people.
His thoughts racing, while you ultimately let go of his hand. Quickly running off to join the A-Deuce duo and Grim. And who loudly complained again about your disappearance like you imagined they would.
And he simply watched you go. Questioning why he felt the way he did. What had you done?
Whatever it was, he knew he couldn't just let it go. Not when he needs it most at a time like this.
