His expression had grown slightly downcasted by your sudden seriousness. Quick to shake his head and merely force another smile. Still standing by the table as he seemed to refuse to sit down for the time being.
"It's been the Queen of Hearts rule #25 to host tea parties on the 5th day of every month, so I've made it a habit. Though, there is another reason why... But first,"
He paused for a moment. Reaching out to pick up the tea pot and hold it up. "Would you like some tea? It's not a tea party without tea, you know."Your brows furrowed at how strange Riddle was still acting. Finding it all too strange now. Really, you may not be used to it, but something just felt off.
"Of course. Thank you." He nodded, already moving to carefully pour tea into the teacup in front of you. While your (e/c) eyes remained on him. Almost trying to find what exactly was wrong.
The red head soon began to speak up again when finally sitting down. "I presume you've finished your final exams today?"
"Yeah, yeah... They weren't too bad. Ace, Deuce, and Grim seemed to feel pretty confident about them," you noted. Seeing the way his eyes didn't quite meet his expression.
"Oh... Well, I'm glad those three are finally taking it seriously for once," He mumbled and shook his head.
"That's what I thought. They're definitely getting better," you admitted. Trying to feel less stiff and awkward around the other male, but it wasn't really working out in your favor. Simply having to remind yourself that nothing was wrong. "What about you, Riddle?"
"What about me?" He studied you while you picked up the teacup. Bringing it to your lips to take a small sip. "I did perfect like always, of course."
You cringed at the slightly bitter taste from the tea. Giving a laugh at his words to mask it. "Right. That's great."
He nodded with a slight smile. Suddenly changing the topic. "You know... when I first met you, I always thought you were such a troublemaker. A hex on me."
"You did?" You questioned. Knowing that before his overblot he had seemed to be more than annoyed by your group.
"I did." He sighed. Glancing briefly down at his own teacup that he hadn't touched. Continuing on with his further explanation, his voice growing softer almost. "Not a single student from the Heartslabyul Dormitory was ever in any major trouble since I became the Dorm Head. And yet you always managed to get two of my charges into problems along with yourself. I never liked that."
You sat your teacup back down on the small plate. Not being able to will yourself to drink anymore as the taste was starting to grow a little too sickening for you to handle. Or perhaps it was more so the conversation that was twisting your stomach into knots. Regardless, nothing was going the way you'd hoped.
"Well, I can't say I blame you. It does seem like my group tends to get into trouble more often then not. Though, not on purpose. Most of the time..." You mumbled back in reply.
You couldn't quite assume what exact events Riddle may be mentioning. There was far to many times that you could count that would have been considered "getting in to to trouble." Your group was just known for doing that a lot. And with these overblots happening, it definitely wasn't going to help any of you.
A glimmer seemed to illuminate Riddle's gray eyes. Which you couldn't place what it was exactly, only adding to your initial disconcerting feelings.
"Regardless," He continued, reaching for the plate that contained a large strawberry tart to slice into it. "I've already come to realize that your intentions aren't as nefarious and burdening as I initially thought. And I'm actually glad for that."
You poked at one of the strawberries with your fork after the redhead had handed you a plate. Your appetite not entirely there anymore, though you felt bad to not eat it. Riddle genuinely seemed to put effort into this tea party. Wether or not that was because of habit, you weren't sure either. But you did know that despite this gnawing awkwardness, you did like Riddle to an extent. Especially with his change of heart after his overblot.
"It's definitely been quite a revelation," you admitted. Finally looking up, your (e/c) eyes meeting with his.
"Indeed," His cheeks seemed to heat up. Quick to turn his attention back onto the tart. "I hope the tart is up to expectation. Trey helped me with it as to not have another dumb accident happen."
You gave a lighthearted smile at that. Trying your damndest to not snicker out loud when he brought up his accident in case he took some offense. Though, that day was just too amusing to not laugh at it yet again.
"It's perfect Riddle. Don't worry," you reassured him. Urging yourself to take a bite despite your lack of appetite.
Fortunately, you found the tart to actually not be so terrible, or salty. While a smile soon graced the redheads face once more.
However, the further you continued to eat, a sudden sharp pain pierced through your head. Causing you to drop the fork and send it clattering onto the plate. Cringing once more as you brought a hand up to your head in hopes to get rid of the headache you were having.
You hardly noticed when Riddle had gone to stand up from the table again and approach your side. Placing a hand to your shoulder as you jumped in suprise. Your face twisting into that of confusion as the pain grew in waves. Yet you felt as though you were unable to really say anything to him. Silence filling the atmosphere between you two, until he spoke up again.
"Do you still want to know the real reason of why I invited you, (Y/n)?" His voice was tinged with an almost fervor. Being eerily calm in this situation that you could almost question that he must have done something. Something horrid...
Along with the fact that he appeared not to be waiting for a reply, "Well, I wanted to thank you simply.."
You furrowed your brows at that. Mustering another confused look towards the redhead now. While it felt as if gravity was attempting to pull you further down into the chair.
"Thank me? For what?" You finally managed to get out. Your voice unlike Riddle's, was barely above a whisper now.
A spark flickered in his gray eyes as he reached his hand to brush a (h/c) strand of hair out of your face.
"For showing me something entirely new."
The statement stung you with that. Slowly dawning on you now while your vision blurred. You hardly even cared to listen to anything else the other male had to say now. With everything feeling as though it was so far away. Just a mere fleeting thing to you.
And then... you were sent falling.
