Footsteps echoed in the hallway. The throne room doors burst open.
"Ahsoka Tano, what is the meaning of this?" the Queen cried.
"I will not be Queen!" Ahsoka growled.
"I am your Grandmother! I am your Queen! You will follow my orders!"
"You may be in charge of this system, but you are not in charge of me! Destiny is! You will not keep me here!"
"Yes I will! I am your only family!"
"No! You will never be a part of my family! My real family will always be behind me, supporting me!" Ahsoka ignited her sabers.
"Ahsoka, no!" Anakin yelled.
"Trust me, dad," Ahsoka winked. "You may not realize it, but your subjects are slaves to you! I will not inherit a slave empire after fighting them all my life!"
"We are no slave empire! How dare you suggest that?"
"My personal attendant, Lana, was kidnapped from her home at a young age. She was conditioned to be a slave and traveled around the Galaxy, serving many different masters. She's 18! She has a family and a full life ahead of her. All of them do!" Ahsoka pointed to the crowd of servants.
"I need all of their services! You are dismissed back to work!" the Queen ordered.
"No! I do not care how many years you will punish me! I will see my family again!" Lana stomped.
"You are making a grave mistake."
"No! You are! My family may have adopted me, but they raised me! They love me!
Anakin, you've taught me so much. How to never give up when everything tries to beat you down.
Padme, you've been there at my lowest, so you get to see me at my best. You help everyone you can, and you're the best mother I could ever ask for.
Trace, Rafa. You saved my life. You continue to make my world a better place. I couldn't be any happier with my sisters by my side.
Obi-Wan, you always know the right thing to say. You're always there at the perfect time. Thank you.
Caleb, I love you. I chose to spend my future with you.
Hunter, you're a special friend. You may not realize how much you've helped me. I hope that I can call you a brother.
Sage, Silas, you may be the newest additions to the lineage, but you make me want to get up each day.
Lana, you've proven to be a loyal, kind, and worthy friend. I consider you part of my family." Ahsoka paused, lowering her sabers and stepping closer to the throne.
"Family isn't about relationships or birthrights. It's about being there no matter what. It's a special, unbreakable bond that you don't even care to understand. We are leaving this corrupt planet, with your consent or not. I am willing to do what it takes to protect my family!" Ahsoka looked angrily at the Queen. She thought for a moment before getting up and facing Ahsoka.
"You are right. About all of it. I have oppressed my subjects without realizing it. I needed you to show me that. My servants are like slaves. You have so much responsibility already, I thought a little more wouldn't hurt. I was so excited you were back, I knew you were ready to rule." Ahsoka was in tears, accepting the apology.
"Thank you, Grandmother," Ahsoka whispered.
"Go. Protect your family." The Queen turned Ahsoka around. She ran to Anakin and Padme. They all caught her in a loving grasp.
