Chapter Cover: Eve and Elizabeth standing back to back with each other with Elizabeth holding the Scepter and Eve with RuneSave

I stared at the creature right above me. I could feel my own anger growing within myself as I raised my hand instantly summoning out my feathers as the spun around us as I was protecting Elizabeth from it. That thing was the reason this entire thing started in the first place and I will never allow it to take Elizabeth away from me.

But then, I felt a soft hand touching my own drawing my attention down toward it finding myself staring straight into Elizabeth's purple eyes thought weakened but still very much alive.

"Elizabeth," I said, relief seeping through me.

"It's okay…," Elizabeth whispered gently, "You don't have to keep fighting anymore."

I was confused.

"What?"

"Do you know what today is Eve?" she asked.

"August 10," I said frowning, "Why?"

Elizabeth smiled.

"Today's my birthday," she whispered.

My eyes widened in shock.

"What?"

The young woman in my arms turned her gaze toward the floating Servant above us. There was no fear in her eyes this time but a calm acceptance that somehow made my heart breaks by just seeing it. There is no way that she was thinking of actually doing this.

"I'm thirty years old today," Elizabeth said smiling.

"But…I thought you said that you had three weeks?" I asked her, "It hadn't been even one week yet."

Elizabeth chuckled softly.

"I know," she said, "I never did have the heart to tell you the truth. Despite everything, I wanted to keep everything hidden…away. You managed to do everything in your power to help me…but there is nothing I can do now."

"You still have the Scepter," I told her looking at the object lying not to far away from where we are but then stopped short staring at it.

The Jewel that was at the top of the Scepter was cracked into pieces on the ground. I stared at it, completely taken aback by the state it was in. No…it couldn't be broken…there is no way that this thing was just destroyed after all that we've done to keep it away from James's hand…

"No…," I whispered, "The Scepter…it's broken."

"It's okay…Eve," Elizabeth whispered, "We kept our promise to Elianna and we destroyed it."

"But…we were supposed to use it to destroy that thing," I said to her looking down at the girl, "We were going to use it to save your life Liz…if it's broken then…"

"I…I have accepted my fate," Elizabeth said simply.

I stared at her. She didn't just say that…She didn't just say something like that…

"Don't say that," I snapped at her, feeling something clawing at my throat, "You've promised that you're going to live your life. You are going to have many more adventures and learning a lot of things…you can't just…"

"I have known what it means to have a family," Elizabeth answered, "I have known friendship, and have comrades that has come to help me when I needed it, and it's all thanks to you Eve….you and Fairy Tail."

Elizabeth gave me a gentle smile.

"For that…I can't thank you enough," she whispered.

"But…I promised you…," I said the tears now falling from my eyes, "I made you a promise that you would live…I…I…"
