Chapter Cover: Nyssa standing back to back with a younger version of herself who was dressed in a elegent dress.

As she had promised her, Nyssa had taken a seat beside Venum as the two of them stayed alone on the top of the Tower, with the golden shield Venum had created separating the two of them. Nyssa was looking upward toward the sky above them. The young woman was looking upward at the clouds that were slowly moving around them as a gentle wind was starting to blow around her hair as they danced lightly within them.

"I never did tell you about my past did I?" Nyssa said looking at Venum.

The other woman was still facing her with her wings around her from where she sat as her own tail was raised behind her and wandering with a mind it's own. Venum looked at her curiously at that.

"You told me that your family was a sister clan to my own," Venum recalled her voice soft.

Nyssa smiled.

"I did say that didn't I?" she said, "Being a soldier isn't what my family wanted for me you know. As one of their two daughters, my mother and father wanted me to find a nice young man and marry so that I can continue the line of the Syel bloodlines. When you said that I was similar to a desert princess, you weren't that far from the truth."

Venum looked at her, her eyes seemingly becoming softer.

"How was your life back home?"

Nyssa stayed silent for a few moments thinking about it. It had been a long time since she had think about back at her home and the Villa that her family owned. She remembers waking up from her room and standing at the edge of her own balcony as the small city state that was around her villa was staring to wake up as the sun peaked over the white cloaked mountain in the distance. The gentle smell of the fresh fruits that the traveler brings along with them to see her.

She remembers the ancient walls of her home that stood for centuries since her family was brought in to the Empire. She remembers taking lessons in etiquettes as a well brought up young lady should have and even learning to dance as well as playing instruments.

"My life back there was normal," she said softly, "Ever since I was nothing but a girl, I was being taught and learned to be a noble lady. Learning to speak formally, learning to talk like a noble. Being as young as I was, I had believed that was the life that I was supposed to have so I focused on learning everything that my mother wanted…In her eyes, I was the perfect daughter, the one she always wanted unlike my older sister."

"You have an older sister?"

Nyssa nodded.

"We don't talk," she said, "Hell it's been years since I have seen her. All I know is that she ran away from home when I was still a child. If I see her today, I'd barely recognized her since I hardly remembered what she look like. All I know is her name and that she had brown eyes, like our father…her name, was Dahlia Syel."

Nyssa let out a small sigh at that, looking at her hands.

"But in my parent eyes," she continued, "Dahlia was a disgrace to the family. So they never spoke of her in my younger years. It's like they were pretending she never even existed in the first place. I missed my sister but I never understood why she left back then so I simply learnt what I can under their teachings so that I could become the lady that they always wanted me to be."

Venum leaned against the golden shield that separated them.

"What changed?"

The look of the woman's face darkened lightly.

"When I was fifteen," she said, "Our Villa was attacked by a radical force that opposed the Empire. Considering my family's standing within Alvarez, attacking our Villa is similar to lighting a fuse underneath a bomb. All the soldiers that served my family were completely defeated and we were all taken prisoners into our own homes and it was the first time in my life, I had felt so powerless."
