"He turned up here again looking for you."

Mom's voice echos through the phone, I frown worried about my parents back home. Laying on my stomach in front of the fire I let the warmth brush against me. It had snowed heavily yesterday so Quinn only popped out for a few hours to stock back up on food.

Plus he did pick up a board game he said caught his eye in one of the gift shops.

"Was dad home?"

"No." She sighs. Her voice is slower than usual and she seems tired. My heart weighs heavy with guilt knowing that I left them to deal with him. I swallow down the lump forming in my throat and instead open my mouth to apologise but she beats me to it. "No apologising Bethany. I would rather face him every single day for the rest of my life if it meant he left you alone."

"Mom..." I sniffle wishing I could just give her a hug right now.

"It's fine. Me and your father are dealing with it. I don't want to talk about him that's not why I called, I need you advice for something Bambi."

"Okay..." I hesitate frowning at the fluffy carpet I'm laying on. What could she need my advice for?

"Mine and you fathers anniversary is coming up and I'm stuck between two dresses, can you help?"

I squeal sitting up as I shout "yes." She laughs telling me to give her a minute to switch to FaceTime.

"Bethany? You okay?" Quinn's voice calls from upstairs.

I gasp covering my mouth when I realise how loud I was, "Uh - Yes I'm okay." I reply listening out for anything else but the cabin remains quiet again until my mom's voice fills the lounge.

"Okay so I have gold," She holds the satin gold dress in front of her body on a gold hanger, "Or green." Then she switches to the velvet green dress on the other hanger. I tilt my head as I compare them both, "Green or gold?" Then she switches back to the gold in front of her body.

"Gold mom. Your hair looks brighter." I nod and it seems that was the right answer because she smiles, eyes wide with excitement. "Where are they from? They look gorgeous."

"Oh they're from a company called Mini Me. It used to be just mom and baby wear but they entered the lingerie area and have just dropped some gowns. It's truly stunning Bethany, you should have a look online." She advises and I watch her hang the dress on the outside of their wardrobe.
