"Can I read in here? Please?"

Her voice is soft, both hands clasped together over her chest as she widens her eyes.

I huff rolling my eyes with a nod. Stretching my arms I can't help but feel grumpy for how long I've sat in this chair. Even though I've spent most of my day hidden away in here it doesn't actually look like I've made a dent in the huge stacks of paper.

Bethany grins hurrying over towards one side of the library and picking out a book straight away, she turns to face me while holding it up, "I saw it the other day."

I raise an eyebrow, "Of course you did. When you were peaking."

"I was not peaking." She gasps, a smile slipping through her lips seconds later.

I watch as she moves to the lounge/chaise thing that does not look comfortable at all and sit down. Immediately bringing her legs into her chest she leans back, eyes flicking over the old pages. Then to my surprise she takes off her implant and places it neatly next to her before continuing to read.

My attention has been taken by her, eyes so expressive I could imagine the scenes she's reading, fingers tip toe over the words and I watch as her body gently relaxes. I makes me wonder if this is how she spends her down time, if this is what she likes to do when she takes her implant off.

Maybe this is her way of offloading, she can cut off her access to a world full of noise and instead completely wrap herself up into another one that does not require sound.

Paperwork is forgotten, I can't concentrate when she is in the room. I can't decide if it's because we are staying together or because I actually like her. Something seems to be drawing me to her, pulling my sting to hers so they can tie the knot together and become one.

It's weird, I've never had this weird energy with anyone.

Overtime the words on my pages recapture my attention, working through them one by one the next time I left my head to check on her I find her asleep. Hey eyelashes flutter across her cheekbones as deep sighs cross her lips.

I sit back quietly with the knowledge that she trusts me enough to fall asleep in here without her implant on. My phone dings and I look to see Adolf's name.

Adolf: I have info on that building. Do you want me to come round?

Quinn: Yes.

Quinn: Good or bad?

Adolf: Not good.
