The Love I Missed

Chapter 26

(Bare with me I don't have much knowledge on law)

Today is Wop's court case is taking place. Zai,Kal,Rey,Eli,Aiden,Ashton,Kaliah, Red, a few other gang members and Wop's girlfriend Celine, are sitting in the court room waiting for the trial to start.

Wop walked out with his lawyer. He was wearing a white shirt and black trousers that Rey brought to him, with handcuffs on that joined to his feet. Before he sat they took off the feet cuffs. Everyone's attention turned to Wyatt and they frowned.

"We are gathered here today for the case of Wyatt Preston. Everyone please be seated." "We will now start with opening statements, Wyatt's lawyer, Mr Anders will start first.

"Thank you, your honour. Wyatt grew up as an orphan, the only close family he had was his older sister but she got sentenced to prison. He had a rivalry with Ramon which led to Ramon tricking him into a whare house. My client had no knowledge of Ramon's plans which was to murder him. Ramon shot after Wyatt and in self defence, Wyatt shot back. He didn't mean to kill him, it was a reaction and a quick thought. I'm finished your honour"

"Officer Smith"
"Wyatt is a terrible man. And-"
"Objection your honour! Informalities and opinionated"
"Jury ignore the last statement, continue." She banged the gavel.

"Wyatt turned himself in at my police station, around 32 hours after the incident. When we arrived at the crime scene, Ramon was already dead. There was bullets on the other side of the wall which shows that Ramon was shooting. You can see the photos in the folder." The judge and the jury analysed the photos in their hands. "We also found an unregistered gun in his hand but it had no fingerprints on it. I'm finished your honour"

"Forensics team, please now speak your statement."
"Ramon had 30 bullet wounds in total, 5 to the head, 20 to his torso. 1 to his knee and 4 to his genitals. He was alive for 40 seconds after he got shot then he bled out. I can confirm he was dead by the 5th bullet. That's all I have to say your honour."

Zaijah started tearing up and Rey stroked her hand trying his best to comfort her.

"Wyatt Preston to the stand. Officer Smith." She banged the gavel.

"Thank you your honour. Mr Preston did you see a black girl who is around 5'4 with curly hair?"
"What the f- what does this have to do wit-"
"Objection your honour, he's asking irrelevant questions"
"Jury ignore the last statement. Proceed" she banged the gravel.

Officer smith discreetly rolled his eyes at Wop before asking him another question.

"When you shot Ramon, did you replace his gun?"
"No sir. That was his which he shot at me with."
"A few hours after you shot Ramon, Zaijah Williams was in hospital with a bullet wound to her right arm in the same area of the incident. Did you shoot her?"

Wop was getting annoyed and glanced over at Zaijah before answering the question.

"No. I didn't see anyone at the location except Ramon"

"What the fuck, why they mentioning me fo?" Zaijah whispered to Rey.
"This system is fucked baby"
"Nah this ain't right. I'm gonna-" Rey swiftly put his hand over Zaijah's mouth and glared at her.
"Don't make me put you in there myself Zaijah." He sternly whispered in her ear.

She moved his hand and sucked her teeth. She didn't like the fact that they were trying to pin her getting shot on him when it wasn't his fault at all.

"There was two white women who brought Zaijah to the hospital. They told us she passed out on their door step. This was 5 minutes away from the scene. Their statements are in section 2, have a look."
