The cattle drive

We thought it would be fun...we thought we were safe but we didn't realize the horror waiting for us on the island... claws... teeth...screaming...so much screaming. The t-Rex got closer...her jaws opened wide- click. We all look over to where the flash of light came from. "Sorry it's for the vlog, keep going with you little story" Darius looked a little annoyed but kept going "her jaws opened wide-" Darius started but again was cut off by Brooklyn "dang out of space" she says as everyone groans. "Maybe I should just start over" Darius say annoyed. "No in fact just stop" Ben says scared. "Dude chill he's not even telling the story right now" kenji comments. "So the t-Rex got-" Darius started but again got cut off my Sammy this time. "Maybe we should invite Yasmina over? I bet she'd love this story." She says. Darius finally gives up with telling his story puts his hood on and lays down on the bench. While the rest of them are talking I make my way over to Darius but before I could say anything it starts to rain. "Maybe we should go in side" Sammy say. "Way ahead of you" ben says while running towards the door and everyone else following expect Darius. "Hey you good?" I say while walking over to him. "Yea just annoyed I didn't get to finish the story" he replies. "Well if it makes you feel any better it was a good story so far." I say trying to cheer him up. "Thanks" he says while getting off the bench. "We should head in side it's coming down pretty bad" he says. "Right behind you." I say as we run towards the door.

The next day we got into the jeep and when to a grass field. I recognize it because I've been out here before but the rest of the campers looked lost until they saw the gyrospheres. "Get ready camp Cretaceous because we going on a cattle drive but with dinosaurs it's a Dino drive!" Dave said. "And just to be clear all the dinosaurs are herbivores right?" Ben asks. "Well they only chewed on the last kid a little so we're 99% sure they're cool" Roxie says jokingly but Ben isn't laughing. "Don't worry ben she's kidding" I say reassuring him. Everyone starts getting into gyrospheres but me and Darius. "Is there one I can ride solo?" Darius asks. "Darius you need to be with your fellow campers, you know share your story." Dave replies. "Yeah I tried that last night it didn't go so well." Darius says. "Just be yourself Darius teenagers can be very accepting if you give them a chance." Roxie adds. Darius walks away and gets into a gyrosphere with Brooklyn which makes me a little mad but I ignore it. "Um so what do I do?" I ask Dave and Roxie. "Because the gyrospheres can only fit 2 people and we have an odd number of kids we where able to get you this" Roxie says while point at a quad(four-wheeler). "Bet!" I say with excitement. I run over to the quad and start the engine. "I could get used to this" I say. Darius looks at me with his mouth dropped but quickly realizes he's staring and looks away. Everyone puts their ear pice in and is ready to start the drive. "Alright the head phones are for emergency but you can always reach us on Chanel 6." Roxie say. "Let the herding being!" Dave says.

With no hesitation we all dive off following the dinosaurs. I drive a little faster then everyone else so I could be with the heard. I looked behind me and see Darius and Brooklyn sitting in silence. I kinda feel bad for him, Brooklyn can be a lot at times. After a while of driving the storm starts to pick up and the jeep drives in front of us. "ok new plan the storms getting worse so we're going back to camp." Dave says. Everyone groans. "Are we really going to let a little rain stop us from driving with dinosaurs?" Darius say. "Sorry D but we just can't risk it" Dave replies. "Seriously" I say in a irritated tone. "This isn't up for discussion" Roxie adds. She try's talking on the radio but all she hears is static. "Ok new new plan we're going to drive ahead and let them know where pulling out while y'all stay here" Dave say before they drive off. A few seconds later lighting strikes and a sinoceratops runs away run the heard. A few seconds after Brooklyn and Darius chase after her. "Wait are y'all going after her I really don't think that's a good idea" Sammy say over the headphone. "I with Sammy on this one that's not a good idea" I add. But before I could explain why, Sammy and yas go after it as well followed by kenji and Ben. "Ugh are you serious" I say as I follow them.

While chasing the dinosaurs Darius and Brooklyn almost hit a cliff. "Darius, Brooklyn y'all good?" I ask. "Yep were fine and I think I know how to stop her from running" Darius replies. "No stop she's only going to get spooked and might charge at y'all " Sammy adds. "I agree with Sammy y'all need to stop!" I say. "I'm going to cut her off it'll be fine." Darius say. "No it won't y'all need to stop!" I beg. Darius try's to cut her off but she ends up running back to the heard. "Not good not good at all" I say. "Listen up y'all we need to stop her before she spooks to whole heard" Sammy say but before she could keep going Darius and kenji drive off. "It'll be fine Darius knows dinosaurs" yas says. Darius and Brooklyn try to cut her off again but this time she charges at them and send them spinning out of control. "Guy look out!" I yell as the head into the heard. As we all race through the herd trying not to get crushed we head into the forest and get spilt up. "Help guys were sinking" I hear Brooklyn say statically over the headphones. "Brooklyn can you hear me!" I say but there no reply. I start driving again but I don't see anything until I hear Brooklyn.

Yas and I both get to them at the same time. Yas and kenji try to pull them up from out the mud. "No there just going to pull you under!" I warn them. They jump back from the mud. "Oh now you listen to me" I say under my breath but they hear it. "Seriously not the time" kenji says. "Um guys" Ben says. We all turn around to see the sinoceratops that we were chasing walking up to us. "I have an idea" Sammy say as she starts walking towards the dinosaur and picks up a branch with leaves on it. "I think I know where your going with this" I say as I follow her. "Hey..I get it.. it's hard to trust strangers" Sammy says slowly. "It's a scary world out there but I'll trust you if you trust me" she says as I slowly reach my hand out to the dinosaur. When I put my hand on her I nod my head and Sammy does the same. "I'm not going to hurt you" she says. The sinoceratops grunts gesturing that it trust us.  "Guys!" Darius yells. "Really touching and all but we're still about to die!" Brooklyn adds. "Hurry" Sammy says as she grabs a vine and tosses it to kenji. We tie the vine around the dinosaur and yell ready. When everyone else in done we move the branch and the dinosaur follows. As she moves she's pulling Brooklyn and Darius out the mud. Kenji and yas take a branch and pry the gryospheres door open. "Hey guys" Darius says as we all laugh and cheer. Just then Dave and Roxie pull up with shocked faces.

When we get back to camp we're all talking about how amazing that was. "Don't ask me how I did it but I did it." Kenji say. "Weren't you crying at one point" Sammy says. Everyone but kenji burst out laughing. When we all got settled I saw Darius sitting alone. I started walking toward him but stopped when I saw Brooklyn walk in. "I finally managed to get all the mud off which is more than I can say for these nails." I hear her say. They start talking and I stop listening. All I can feel is a wave of jealousy go over me but it soon turns to sadness as I hear them laugh and see how he looks at her as she walks away. I finally regain the confidence to walk into the room. "Hey what's up." I say faking a smile. "Oh um nothing much." Darius replies. We sit in silence for awhile before Darius speaks up. "Sorry about earlier you were right if I would have just listened to you we would've never been in that situation." He says. "Oh it's ok" I reply. "Im used to being ignored" I say quietly so he can't hear me. "Did you say something" Darius says. "Oh just that I can't wait for tomorrow" I say quickly. "Yeah 3 near death experience in a row I wonder if tomorrow will be 4" he says while laughing. The sadness I felt earlier fades away as we keep talking. If only I knew the sorrow tomorrow would bring with it...
