Chapter 20- It Was...Close...

*Serene’s POV*

My eyes widened and fear spiked through me. I quickly looked over to see Amir deep in thought while staring at me. I slightly shook my head at him, or tried to with Lyon’s knife being a constant reminder. His eyes darkened even more when he saw it. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath in an attempt for control.

Lyon tightened his grip on my hair considerably and I was afraid he’d rip it out. “So, what’s it gonna be, Rabid Prince?”

Amir bristled at the name and clenched his hands. “If I accept…you let her go.” he confirmed with finality.

“Why of course.” I could hear the smirk in his voice. “I am a man of my word after all.” he said slyly. In the corner of my eye I saw something walking slowly sneaking up behind the pillar. My eyes widened when I saw it was Aurelie. She held something…but I couldn’t tell what it was. But I could see that whatever she was holding…she was aiming it directly towards Amir. No one else saw and I could feel the panic in me start to build.

“Alright then.” my focus snapped back to Amir. “You got yourself a deal.”

I saw the quick glint of silver. A blade. And it was coated in the Infinity Drug! I thought fast then remembered something from a while back.

*FLASHBACK*

I laughed hysterically at the bewildered look on Hazel’s face.

“What the…how did…how did you…WHAT?!” she screeched as she stared gapingly and the decapitated dummy in front of us.

That earned another round of laughter from me. Once I calmed down I explained.

“They call it the Severing Blade, even though it’s a spell. And clearly,” I gestured to it. “You see what it does. A pretty powerful weapon but it does have a downside; to sever the person’s limb you have to be touching that particular limb.

“Have you ever used it before?” she asked, still in astonishment.

I shook my head. “No. Never had a reason to.”

*FLASHBACK OVER*

Yeah that’ll do. I looked over at Hazel, and caught her eye, trying to convey my message through them.

*Hazel’s POV*

I narrowed my eyes slightly at her, knowing she was trying to convey something to me but not quite understanding. She kept looking upwards and then back at me. I followed her gaze to where he was gripping her hair and instantly understood.

My shoulders shook gently as I tried my hardest to contain the laugh that was threatening to erupt from me.

I quickly took my cloak off so I could cover her when she got free, noticing Lyon and almost everyone else questioning my actions. I gave her the slightest of nods so they wouldn’t realise and she used the distraction to her advantage.

*Serene’s POV*

I used what little strength I had to shout the words.

“ABLÖSEN”

His scream rang loud into the night and his hand fell to the floor. His blood splashing over me. I quickly crawled away before I felt a rush of air and then I was picked up by Qasim who rushed to Hazel and placed me beside her as she covered me with her cloak and quickly started to heal me. I vaguely saw the relief in Amir’s eyes before I pushed Hazel’s hand away. I resisted the urge to yell as my body screamed in absolute pain while I rushed and stood in front of Amir.
