Marcy let go of a sigh as she looked around her empty room, filled with nothing but moving boxes. It was crazy to see thirteen years of her life packed away so simply in just a few boxes. This was it; this was the last time she'd stand in this room, the last time she'd stand in this house, and probably the last time she'd stand in this town for awhile, too. She took a moment to get one last look at the room she'd called her's for the last thirteen years before she left and headed outside, where her two best friends, Anne and Sasha, were waiting for her with tears streaming down their cheeks.
The two of them quickly ran up to Marcy and pulled her into a tight, but warm hug. Marcy couldn't stop herself from sobbing as she buried her head in the hug. The three girls just held each other and cried for a few minutes before Anne finally spoke through sniffles and a shaky voice, "Well, I guess this is it. Crazy how after everything you're still moving away, huh, Marbles?"
"Y-Yeah," A shallow giggle escaped Marcy's lips as the girls separated from their embrace. "It is crazy. Gosh, I'm gonna miss you two so much... I don't know what I'm going to do without you!"
"You'll be fine, Mar-Mar," Sasha replied as she placed a comforting hand on Marcy's shoulder, her lips quivering as she tried to hold her tears in. Needless to say, she failed at that. "We'll be fine. We'll call each other every night and we'll visit each other as much as possible! I-It'll be like you never even left!"
Marcy smiled at Sasha's assuring words, sniffling as she wiped her tears on her sleeve. She opened her mouth to say something in response, but before she could utter a word, she heard her mother calling for her as the movers brought the last of the boxes into the moving van, speaking the words she dreaded the most: "Marcy! Come on, dear! It's time to go!"
The smiles immediately vanished from all the girls' faces. Just when Marcy thought she was done crying, suddenly her eyes were waterfalls again. Anne and Sasha pulled her into another hug, the both of them still crying as well. "Promise you guys won't forget about me... a-and promise you'll stay friends when I'm gone." Marcy whispered through her sobs.
"Oh, Marcy," Anne laughed through her tears, "After everything we've been through together, I don't think forgetting about you is even a possibility for us!"
Those words caused guilt to rush through Marcy, even though she was sure Anne didn't mean it that way. Surely she didn't; Anne and Sasha had forgiven her, right?
It's okay.
The past is in the past.
They don't care about that anymore.
Then why did she still feel so horrible?
Realizing she had zoned out, Marcy snapped back into reality just as Sasha spoke the words, "We promise," having missed everything she said before that. Marcy just smiled weakly in response, nodding as she pulled away from the hug with a sniffle. She lowered her teary eyes to the ground and awkwardly rubbed her arm, unsure of what to say. How does one say goodbye to the two people who are like home to them?
"Marcy! Are you coming?" Mrs. Wu called from inside the moving van.
"Coming, Mom!" Marcy called back. She then took a deep breath as she finally met Anne and Sasha's eyes again. "I guess I'd better go," She sniffled. "Goodbye, guys. I'll miss you so, so much."
"We'll miss you too, Marcy." Anne answered with a smile.
Sasha nodded in agreement. "Call us later! I wanna see the new house!"
Laughing softly, Marcy gave her two friends one last quick hug before she got in the van, where her parents were waiting for her. They didn't waste any time in leaving, as they'd already waited long enough for Marcy to get in the car. Anne and Sasha waved goodbye to Marcy until the car was out of sight, and Marcy waved back until she couldn't see them anymore as well, her eyes stinging from how much she had been crying.
"It's okay, sweetheart," Mrs. Wu looked at Marcy with an assuring smile. "You'll see them again soon. I promise."
Marcy gave a small smile back, nodding in response to her mother. She then took a deep breath and closed her eyes, finally calming herself down.

That calmness was short-lived, though. It wasn't long before her head started pounding, and Marcy's eyes shot wide open, like she'd just seen a ghost. This wasn't the first time this has happened since leaving Amphibia; it happened quite often, honestly. Marcy just assumed she was having migraines from living in another dimension for the past year, or maybe it was the new medicines she was taking. It had never been this bad though, and that was for certain. Her breathing started to pick up as her head throbbed in excruciating pain, tightly closing her eyes and clenching her teeth as she tried not to cause too much of a scene. Her parents noticing was inevitable, though.
"Marcy? Are you alright?!" Mr. Wu asked worriedly as he looked at Marcy through the rearview mirror. "Do we need to pull over?"
"No, n-no, I'm fine," Marcy lied, her voice indicating that she was holding back tears. "No need to pull over; just another migraine."
Mrs. Wu frowned, turning to look her daughter with sympathetic eyes. "Okay, dear. Just let us know if you'd like us to pull over or stop for anything." She then handed Marcy a water bottle. "Here, drink some water."
With a sniffle, Marcy nodded and took a sip of water. It didn't really get rid of the pain, but it helped calm her down, at least. She rummaged in her pocket and  pulled out her earbuds, quickly plugging them into her phone and opening the music app. She put her playlist on shuffle, the first song to come on being "Francis Forever" by Mitski. Just what she needed right now, a song to make her even sadder than she already was! She kept it on anyways though, as it was admittedly one of her favorite songs. Sighing, she shoved her hands in her pockets and rested her head back as the music played softly in her ears, her heavy eyes staring out the window. She yawned and, soon enough, sleep came and took the pain away.
