It was freshly 4:55pm and I was just now arriving at the coffee shop, called Hype. I saw Devale in the window.
Instead of going in right away I called Kayla, I needed someone to talk to before I went in there.
"Kay?" I said to her as soon as she answered, she was sitting in her bed with a bonnet on. "Yea?"
"I'm meeting up with Devale today?" Her eyes widened and her face dropped. She opened her mouth to speak but closed it again.
"Girl speak come on, im already late and nervous." I rushed her, "I'm just flabbergasted."
"I still can't believe he was there, like I know seeing him was so hard for you." She spoke, "Are you going to tell him?"
"I don't know," I shrugged, I didn't know if I should. It's not like it would change anything between us. "What do you think?"
At the end of the day he still did what he did and treated me horrible. He was a manipulative, narcissistic person.
"I think you should, I mean you know how Dai is. That little girl needs all the love in the world."
My babygirl was definitely keen on having a dad in her life. I hated that Devale wasn't around for her.
I remember when she was 3, any man she ever saw around me besides her uncles she'd assume was her dad.
I felt so bad, all of my relationships ended because that just let me know I was never ready to move on.
Anytime she said 'Daddy' it just made me think of Devale and when I thought of him my whole mood shifted.
If he still had such an impact on my life that should let me know I wasn't ready to move on.
"Girl go in there and let me sleep." she hung up in my face and I just shook my head. I got our car and walked into the cafe.
Devale was standing as if he was about to leave, "D?" He turned and faced me, he looked at his phone and showed me the time. 5:10pm.
"I thought we were meeting at 4:30?" , "I'm sorry, I was caught up in something with my daughter."
That was truth, Dailani wanted to act an ass and put sugar all over my kitchen. I had to pop her lil ass and clean the whole kitchen.
I was so mad I almost beat her ass but I had to restrain myself, "Oh well have a seat," he pulled my chair out.
I thanked him and sat down, he then got back in his chair. "So?" I spoke first, "So?" He responded.
"You asked to meet with me," I informed and he nodded. "So how've your been?" He asked, I smiled just a bit.
"I've been fine, I have my dream job, I have an amazing baby girl." I thought back to what she did this morning.
"No she a bad ass lil girl but she's still my baby." I added, we both laughed and then I asked him about hisself.
"Honestly I haven't been at my best, I miss you Fay. And I know we didn't know each other long but I miss that little section of happiness we had."
"I wanted to reach out to you to apologize for the pain that I caused you, I wanted you to know that I loved you, I still do."
"I would've never put my job or life at risk for anyone else," I looked down, he reached over and placed his hand on mine.
"I appreciate that Devale I do." I looked back up at him, we spoke for a couple of hours before we parted ways.
I agreed to meet with him tomorrow, I wanted to tell him that Dailani was his. I knew he's be excited to be a dad.
Especially since he had just told me that one of his ex's was pregnant and got him attached only for to kill the baby.
That was when Dai was only 2 so I can imagine if he would've known. "Mom?" I answered my phone quickly.
"When you coming to get this demon seed?" Laughter immediately filled the car. "I'm coming now ma."
"Plus I have to talk to you."
