Paro flinched when she felt a hand on her shoulder. Turning back she heaved a sigh in relief seeing Aryan standing in front of her.
" Hey, are you ok? It's just me." Aryan said, unsure of her sudden tensed behaviour.
" Yeah, yeah I am good.". Paro smiled trying to act casually.
" So shall we dance, miss shorty?" Aryan teased her to lighten her mood.
Paro was about to agree to his proposal but then she realised the word he had used to address her.
" Why did you just say ?" She asked, raising one of her eyebrows, daring him to repeat.
Aryan chuckled and dragged her to the dance floor.
Soon she joined her friends along with Aryan and started vibing to the music.
" Oh by the way Aryan I forgot to tell you Preeti called today". Paro said, keeping her gaze fixed on his face to see the reaction.
For a moment she felt like his eyes twitched with some buried emotions but it was soon gone.
" Oh really! What was that brat saying?"
He forced a smile on his lips, trying to maintain his cool. But his eyes avoided meeting his friend's so as not to raise any doubt in her mind.
Paro suddenly felt bad for making him feel uncomfortable. He told her already that he liked someone else now. But his expression surely had different things to say.
" She didn't say anything important. Come on now. Let's dance baby". She used her funky tone and pulled his cheek playfully which made him laugh.
Soon Paro let herself be free and started rocking the dance floor with Aryan. She wanted to put all of her miseries to rest phase. Even for a little bit.
………
Adi was pulled off his reverie as soon as he saw the dancing duo. He haphazardly ran his fingers through his jet black hair. He couldn't believe the insecure person he had become. That's just not him. Yet he was jealous. Yes, he indeed was. He couldn't deny his feelings anymore. That low-class boy was good looking, well educated, and… young, just like her.
But that was not his matter of concern. Soon he will make her understand that she needs a man. A real one.. like himself. Not any loser kid. As much as he hated to admit it, that low life is well behaved, caring, and respectful. Adi knew enough to understand that his behaviour was not pretentious.
He absolutely hated it, how Aryan was so nice to Paro and how comfortable she was around him, unlike Adi. When it came to behaviour Adi was well aware of his rude, arrogant self and cared less what others thought about him. Until now. He wanted her to be that carefree version of herself in front of him. To smile listening to his words or be playful around him.
But, sadly, he won't change himself for anyone ever. She has to get used to this unfiltered version of Adi. No matter how much time it takes, she will get used to this. Though Adi is not a patient man, he can do this for her right? After all, she was now an integrated part of his life.
He was surprised to see her enjoying herself with her friends as if nothing happened a while ago! He knew she was a tough nut to crack. But after their little romantic moment, he definitely didn't expect her to dance like this. This was the double standard behaviour he couldn't tolerate at all. But when he tried to confront her she acted like the most innocent soul in the world!
Little manipulative witch!
Was she underestimating him? Just because his family behaved well with her she didn't take him lightly. Did she? Because she clearly had no idea about the power he held.
