PAST CONTINUES,

Jay leaned back on his couch, his voice dripped with frustration as he muttered,

“Had you guys not given me that stupid challenge, I’d have never gone for someone like her. I mean, seriously! It’s been months, and we haven’t even made it to first base. I keep acting all sweet and cringe, but she keeps acting like a fucking prude!”

One of his friends raised an eyebrow, smirking. “So, what’s the plan with her then?”

Jay shrugged, rolling his eyes. “Honestly, I was thinking of ending this whole stupid drama. Plus it’s been way too long since I hooked up with Ivy, and I’m already bored. But now…” Jay’s gaze flicked over to Rohan, who was sitting silently, a drink in his hand.

“Seems like I have to tolerate her for a few more days. Right, Rohan?”

One of the other guys frowned, looking between Jay and Rohan. “Rohan? What’s he got to do with this?”

Jay smirked, leaning in a little closer, “You don’t know, do you? Well, not sure what Rohan saw in her but apparently, that ‘wannabe innocent’ surely did something to him.” Jay let out a chuckle before continuing,

“ I mean even after she supposedly insulted him, he still wants her. So, we made a deal. if I can get her to come around to Rohan, he’ll clear my debt of 5 lakhs.” Jay grinned with a vile glint in his eyes.

“Not sure why he thinks she’s worth that much, but hey, works for me.”

With a twisted grin, Jay looked down at the line of white powder on the table. He gave a nod, then snorted it up, sighing as he leaned back. “Credit goes to my dealer.”

One of his friends watched him, laughing a little too loudly. “Oho, too much info, man! But slow down bro? You’ll end up becoming an addict.”

Jay just waved him off, a smug smile still on his face, not caring one bit.

Paro stood frozen just outside the door, her heart pounding painfully in her chest. Every word she’d overheard seemed to echo in her mind—challenge, Rohan, debt, dealer! She felt like the ground beneath her slipped.

Her whole body trembled as the container she’d brought slipped from her hands, landing with a loud, hollow thud. The cake she had baked with so much care was now scattered all over the floor, broken like her heart.

Her breath caught in her throat, and for a moment, she didn’t know what to do. What was this? She felt like she was trapped in some horrible nightmare, unable to wake up.

She turned, desperate to get out of there before anyone noticed her. But just as she began to move, the door swung open. Someone grabbed her arm, yanking her inside.

“Let go of me! I said, LEAVE ME, you bastard!”

she shouted, her voice breaking. She struggled against his grip, her heart racing as panic and betrayal tangled together inside her, choking her words.

“Look who's here," the boy sneered, pulling Paro roughly into the room. Paro stumbled but quickly regained her footing, her eyes darting around until they landed on Jay. For a split second, he looked shocked and whispered,

"Paro..."

Her mind was spinning, trying to make sense of what she'd heard outside. "You Jay... with Rohan? A challenge?" She let out a bitter, shaky laugh.

"You're joking, right? This has to be some sick joke."

But as Jay looked into her eyes Paro couldn't recognize it anymore. There was no kindness, no love, only a coldness she'd never seen before. She felt her heart shatter into a thousand pieces.
