Paro’s head was spinning, her pulse racing as she stood in the room, trying to hold it together. All of them stopped at their track as the sound of back-to-back gunshots filled the place. Before Victor and his men could rush outside, they saw someone entering inside. She was still clutching Pritha when, from the corner of her eye, she saw someone standing at the door. His eyes fell upon her and her heart nearly stopped. It was him. He was there. Aditya was there. Till that morning Paro couldn't imagine in her worst nightmare that she would ever feel relieved seeing Adi. But as they say, a known enemy is much better than a stranger one.

Adi stood there, his eyes blank and cold, like a storm about to break. There was something deadly in the way he looked at the room, scanning the scene like a predator. Paro’s stomach churned with fear. She had seen him angry a thousand times before, but this... this was different.

Pritha’s face lit up when she saw her uncle. "Uncle!" she cried, her voice thick with tears as she started sobbing again.

Adi’s gaze softened for just a moment as he walked slowly toward Pritha, the tension in the room growing with every step. He reached her, crouching down to ruffle her hair gently.

“It’s okay, sweetheart,” he murmured, pressing a kiss to her tear-streaked cheek.

Then, without a word, Adi straightened and turned his attention to Paro. His fingers gently brushed against the cut on her forehead where Victor had smashed her head into the wall earlier. The touch was soft, but his eyes—those terrifying, dark eyes—turned black as he stared at the wound.

Paro felt a shiver crawl down her spine. There was something in Adi’s calmness that made her skin prickle. She couldn’t tell what he was about to do, and that uncertainty scared her more than anything else. Her heart raced as she stood there, frozen, watching him.

Even Victor, who had been so smug and full of himself moments before, now seemed rattled. He hadn’t expected Adi to find them this quickly, and it showed in the way he tried to mask his nervousness. But he wasn’t about to back down.

Victor let out a mocking laugh, gesturing toward Paro. “I must say, Adi, you were pretty quick to find us. But is this for your sweet little niece or!” he signaled towards Paro with a dirty smug look.

Adi didn’t even look at him. His gaze stayed on Paro, his expression unreadable. Then, in a low, dangerous voice, he said, “Cover Pritha’s eyes.”

Paro blinked, her breath catching in her throat. She didn’t understand at first, but something in Adi’s voice made her act without thinking. She pulled Pritha close, shielding the little girl’s eyes with her hand.

And in the blink of an eye, it happened.

Four of Victor’s men, who had been standing guard, were suddenly on the ground, blood pooling around their bodies. Paro gasped, nearly choking on her breath as she realized what had just happened. Adi wasn’t alone. Two men dressed in black, tall and deadly, had been waiting outside. They moved like shadows, quick and precise, taking down Victor’s men without a sound. The way they just killed those men smoothly told her that they weren't normal people. The realization hit her. They were… they were assassins!

Paro’s legs almost gave out from under her.

Her mind was spinning, trying to make sense of what was happening. She clutched Pritha tighter, keeping her face hidden from the horror unfolding in front of them. But Paro couldn’t look away. She was frozen, watching the scene with wide, terrified eyes.

Adi was calm, unnervingly calm. His demeanor hadn’t changed, but there was a deadly fire in his eyes. The coldness in him was more terrifying than anything Paro had ever seen.
