Sam and I silently crept around the shady warehouse. Peering around the corner, we eyed up the three guards. They were keeping me back from Avallone.
"Now," Sam said, turning me away from the men. "Just remember, these are tranquilizers, so just be careful, okay?" I stared at him, stunned. What was I? A little kid?
I ignored him and set one of the guards in my sights. I took a deep breath and pulled the trigger. He fell, and I quickly shot the next one. Sam had the final one down and we moved on.
For Avallone.
Inside, we snuck down the dark corridors and paused outside a door, which had glass windows. I couldn't stop looking at the men gathered around the table. They were blocking my view of the table, but I was still drawn to it.
"Come on," Sam whispered, trying to pull me away from the door, but I forced him to stand next to me and watch. He did so begrudgingly, and we stood there silently.

"How is she?" A voice said, slightly muffled through the glass. The group slightly parted, showing a familiar face. Harrison. One of the men gathered around the table walked towards him saying, "Alright, and she'll be waking up soon."
Harrison nodded, content. "Good. Leave now, I wish to be alone with her."
I shuddered and watched the men leave one by one. This wasn't right, he can't do this. What was really going to do to her?
Sam grabbed my hand, obviously in need of comfort. Within myself, I was debating to intercept or watch the scene play out.
Something moved in the corner, and I held back. I didn't know what it was, but I felt that I shouldn't go in just yet. I turned to Sam and pointed to the corner.
He gave me a weird look, and brushed me off.
Avallone starting moaning, and she sat up. Her brown eyes fluttered open and she blinked rapidly. Looking around, her gaze sharpened when she saw Harrison before her.
He smiled sweetly, but it had a sickening look to it. "Hello." He said, his words dripping with poisoned honey. "Uh, hey Harrison." Avallone replied, trying to comer off as casual, but I know that she was freaking out.
"It's good to see you again, after you put me into the hospital." He said, adding the last comment sarcastically. Avallone shuddered, showing her first sign of fear. Not good.
"So, I would like you to meet my friend." Harrison said, motioning to the corner. The shadow moved, and out walked a figure with a metal arm.

"Now, do what you came here for, and kill her." He said, before leaving the room with a maniacal laugh. So, they were both pretending to be in love with each other, but Avallone just exposed the truth first.
What if she hadn't?
I turned back to the scene that lay before my eyes. I could feel my heart beats getting faster, and I gripped Sam's shoulder furiously. The man inside that room with her was capable of killing her in seconds.
"No, this can't be happening. Sam, make it stop." I pleaded, hiding my face, makingn sure I couldn't see what was going on in the next room. I felt Sam comfortingly rubbed his hand along my back. It was in a friendly way, which I needed most.
"I can't Natasha, I can only watch it happen. If either of us cross Bucky's path, he'll rip us to shreds. You've seen how he has delt with the person who used to be his best friend, what do you think he would do to us?"
I shrugged my shoulders, even though I knew right well what he would do to us. "I just want to save her," I whispered. Sam nodded. "I know, I do too, but all we can do is wait it out until the right moment, and hope for the best."
Nodding my assent, I turned back to watch Avallone and James. I feared for her life right at this moment, and it was killing me inside that I was helpless to save her from this man.
Now, Avallone seemed less nervous, and she was only biting her lip. It seemed like she was calculating what the situation was, getting her head around all of this.
But, he was staring straight back at her, which sent the chills down my spine. "I don't like the looks of this. Get your gun ready." Sam said, quietly loading his gun, holding it at the ready.
Only now, seeing my best friend so close to death by the very man that was best friends with someone who loved her to pieces, did I realise how much I both needed and wanted Avallone in my life.

AUTHOR'S NOTE:
Sorry, a bit cliche, and short. Quotev seemed to delete this chapter, and I had to rewrite it, which was super annoying.
