CHAPTER THIRTY- TWO

The room was silent for what felt like forever. I scanned each face for any sign of recognition, but there was almost none. The file had told me almost nothing about this mysterious man, other than his appearance and his apparent attempt to take over the world.
Thor cleared his throat, and opened his mouth to speak, when one of my newest aquaintences stopped him. "Loki is Thor's adopted brother, who is currently residing in Asgard, where he is imprisoned, awaiting his father's decree."
I blinked in surprise. Thor had an adopted brother? Wait, what was Asgard ? I voicd my question, which sent groans through the group. "I think you need to sit down, Avallone."

Again, I was blinking rapidly in surprise. "So, Thor, you're like some kind of alien from a whole different planet?" I questioned the man who was standing to my left. He nodded, his long blonde hair bouncing up and down on his shoulders.
I leaned back into the couch I was sitting on, and sighed. "That's a lot to take in." I mumbled, more to myself than to anyone. "Yeah, and there's a lot more than that."
"Oh, God, tell me now and get it all over with," I said, ready for now anything that they threw at me, or so I thought.

"Okay, the Avengers?" I asked, trying to wrap my head around what I had just heard. "The Avengers initiative was created many years ago in case of a crisis. Only about two years back, Loki attacked New York, in attempt to take over the world, but the Avengers, afetr some fighting and a little push, got it together and defeated him, sending Mr Laufeyson back to Asgard, to hear out his punishment."
I nodded all the while as I listened to Fury' explanation. It seemed almost logical, which was weird. It seemed so easy for me to accept the fact that there was an alien living among us, and his adopted brother tried to take over the world.
Much to my pleasure, the conversation of the room turned to lighter things, and soon we were all happily chattering away. I was talking to Steve and Maria, who were sitting next to me, one on one side, and one of the other.
"I'm sorry to alarm you, but it seems that somethin in Miss Clancy's room is glowing in a way I havent' seen before." A voice above us said. I jumped up immediately, with the others close on my heels.
Upon entering my room, I searched for a strange glow, and almost shrieked when it came from my purse. I crept slowly and cautiously up to it. Maybe it was an extra-terrestrial being that had somehow found its way to earth and snuck into my bag.
I pulled out the glowing object, and dropped in in fright. It was a necklace that was glowing a bright and fantastic shade of blue. It fell to the ground at my feet, causing the others to gasp.
Thor stepped forward, and said, "That looks so much like my mother's necklace." His voice was almost wistful, and full of sadness. I looked at his face which was crumpled in sad pain.
None of the others spoke, so the room stayed silent. I slowly bent down and picked it up. "Avallone, isn't that the necklace -" Natasha said, stepping forward.
I glanced at her, confused. "The necklace . . .?" I wanted her to finish her sentence, but she stayed silent for a few seconds. "That's the necklace you said you had gotten from your grandmother, though I don't think that's true. God, I wish I could ask you where you got it from."
"You could ask, she just wouldn't be able to answer," Tony commented, walking me to the bed so I could sit down, which I happily did. Steve handed me a glass of water and sat down next to me.
"May I see it, Lady Avallone?" Thor asked, extending his hand. I reluctantly placed it in his palm and watched him turn it over and examine it closely and carefully.
The room was silent for a little bit, as we all held our breaths and waited for him to say something. "This is my mother's necklace. How did you aquire it?"
I shook my head. He should know that I am unable to answer the question. "She can't tell you, Thor." Steve said, laying his hand gently on my shoulder. Thor just nodded and handed me the necklace back.
"Have you ever seen my mother? She has long blonde hair and the prettiest blue eyes. Her voice is soft, almost like an angels, and - and . . ." He couldn't continue. Thor started to choke on tears and left the room.
Natasha answered my questioning looks with, "She's dead Avallone, Mother Frigga is dead." One by one, they left the room, until it was just me, sitting alone on my bed. I thought about that Thor had said.
"Child," A familiar voice spoke, making me look up. I saw the woman who had clouded my dreams at night, the exact same woman that Thor had described to me a few minutes ago.
"Mother Frigga," I said, remembering what Thor had called her. She gasped, and almost seemed to fade. "No child." She cried, frantically scrambling for something, but I could not say what.
"He is coming, my dear. I've done all I could, but it wasn't enough. Forgive me." Then, she was gone, never to return again. Who was coming? What did she do?
My head swam as I collapsed onto my bed. With a sigh, I drifted off to a nightmare filled slumber.

Thor's P.O.V.
I slammed the door closed, and stood in the very centre of the room. "Heimdall," I said, knowing that as soon as he heard me speak his name, he would beam me up.
"Good to see you again, old friend," I greeted, stepping out of the bifrost. He smiled his all-knowing smile and nodded at me. "The girl with your mother's necklace is worrying you. Be careful Thor, do not trouble yourself too deeply with this. All will work out in time."
With a wave of my hand, I jogged onto the rainbow bridge, towards the castle.
"Father," I greeted, seeing him sitting upon his throne. Odin looked at me. "Thor, I have not seen you for some time, what brings you here?" I hesitated.
"One of my Midguardian friends had somehow aquired mother's favourite necklace." I said, waiting for his reaction quietly. Father moved on his throne, and stood up.
Instead of questioning me, he called to one of the guards standing at the doors. "Bring him in."
