"Good morning, Avallone, how are you?" Eli greeted as I walked through the door, "you're early."
I smiled and nodded. "Yeah, I went for a morning run with my friend and then came here. Oh, and I'm good. How are you?"
Eli chuckled and shook his head.
"I don't really need to know your morning schedule Avvy, and I'm good thanks. Are you ready for a busy day at work?"
"Of course, I was born ready," I replied with a mischievous smirk.
Loki.
Damn, I haven't actually thought about him since I got the job. Is he okay? What has he been doing?
"Avvy, are you okay?" Eli asked, waving a hand in front of my face.
I blanched and kicked his foot out from underneath him, causing him to fall to the floor.
"Oh god, I'm so sorry! I just . . . have really good reflexes?" I quickly came up with an excuse as I offered him my hand.
Eli glanced from my hand to my face. "Yeah, really good reflexes. I'll make a mental note of not doing that in the future."
I laughed awkwardly and shuffled on my feet. "I have one question, by the way."
"Yeah, hit me." He said, brushing off dust from his work pants.
So, I did. I punched him in the arm.
"Ow, what the hell was that?" He yelled, holding his arm and glaring at me.
I shrugged and smiled sheepishly at the floor, "Sorry?"
"You better be, god, that hurt!" He said, rubbing his arm once more before throwing a work uniform at me. "Now, get to work!"

I frowned as I scrubbed at the mustard patch on the table. Eli was acting really weird and I just couldn't get it out of my head.
"It's gone, you know," a voice behind me told me, making me jump.
"Gah!" I screamed, brining my elbow backwards and then turning around and connecting my fist with my attackers face. Natasha has taught me well
Oh gosh, maybe too well.
I watched Eli clutch his stomach and then his nose in pain.
"God, I swear I am going to be hospitalized at this rate!" He cried, glaring angrily at me.
I glanced around, seeing a few customers quickly leaving the café.
"Ugh, I'm sorry. I swear I'll make it up to you. Just tell me what I can do to help, please!" I begged, grabbing his hand and tugging on it.
"Stop it Avvy, let go! People are starting to stare," Eli whisper yelled, yanking my hand off his own.
"Sorry sorry. Gosh, I'm such a fool. If you don't want me to come back here tomorrow, then okay, I get it. I'm sorry," I apologized once again before leaving the table and going to find more work to do.
"Ugh, wait Avvy," Eli said, following me. I turned slightly, expecting him to tell me to leave right then and there. "Keep the job, just do better, okay?" I was wrong. He wanted me to stay. Phew.
"Thanks so much! I hopefully won't disappoint you!" I said with a gleeful smile.

The rest of the time I was working, I did surprisingly well, without any more violent attacks on the boss and without scaring any more customers.
"Well, you're first day was very interesting," Eli said, sauntering up to me with a wide grin on his mildly good looking face. Oh, who am I kidding, he was pretty great looking.
"Yeah, sorry about everything I did. I . . . "
Eli shrugged and placed his hand on my arm. "Don't worry about it, all though you do have some explaining to do. Maybe you can tell me over coffee, or dinner?" He raised his eyebrows and nudged my arm.
I laughed and looked at my shoes. Converse, how interesting. "I don't know anything about you, Boss," I said, mockingly.
"Well, then we'll make a deal. I'll tell you if you tell me. But only if we go out on a date." He smiled at me.
This guy, my boss, just asked me out on a date. I don't know what to say.
"Uhhh - Eli, look, I don't know. I don't really know you, and it would just be uncomfortable." I explained, giving him an apologetic smile.
"And that, Avallone, are what dates are for; so you can get to know the person better. Just give me a chance, okay? I gave you another chance today at work, so you can give me at least one chance." Eli folded his apron and shoved it into a cubby hole.
"Okay."
What did I just agree to?
Oh right, a date with my boss.

"So, how was work?" Sam asked, sitting at the counter, eating a bowl of cereal.
"Cereal at 6? Really? Oh, and it was good. You?"
He smiled and handed me a bowl. "Here, it's good. Oh, and it was pretty great."
I took the bowl and sat down next to him.
"Avvy?" Sam asked, waving a hand in front of my face. I snapped my arm on his hand, slamming it down onto the counter with a bang. Man, people should really stop doing that to me, or I should stop zoning out.
"Sorry."
"Avvy, you were zoning out and smiling at the bowl of cereal. There's a guy, isn't there?" Sam teased, pushing my arm softly.
I scoffed and scooted away to a different seat. "No."
"There is!" Sam laughed and nodded, "sure there isn't. That's why you're blushing, right?"
"Shut up."
"Oooh, I can't wait to tell Loooooki!" He teased.
I flinched and turned towards him.
"You totally forgot about Loki, didn't you?"
I nodded and shoved my half finished cereal in the sink and shrugged myself into my jacket.
"Where are you going?"
I turned and gave him a small smile.
"I think I have to go see Loki."

~

I glared at the floor like it was the main problem in my life right now.
"Why are you telling me, this thought, might I ask?" Loki asked me. "Wait, are you actually going to go to dinner with this mortal?"
I flinched and nodded, tearing my eyes away from the floor and glueing them to his face.
"Yeah."
He dropped his head into his hands. "Now I understand why you are telling me this. Go, have fun. I'll be stuck in here for some time, and you need to have fun while you're away from the Avengers."
"You're like, super amazing!" I exclaimed, hugging him tightly.
He chuckled and hugged me back.
"I know. I am told that all the time."
