It was Loki. He was sprawled out on my couch, in a almost unflattering position, yet it looked almost . . . sexy.
Oh my God, did I just call this lunatic sexy?
"Actually, I need to talk to her, so you will just have to wait your turn," Sam said, walking over to Loki.
He smirked in response. "I do believe that I have been waiting longer to talk to her than you have, Soldier."
Loki's tone was mocking and I inhaled sharply. Sam seemed like a nice guy and didn't deserve to be - wait, he's been waiting to talk to me?
Sam was as surprise as I was when Loki finished.
"What business do you have to discuss with Avallone?" He asked, standing beside me now, protectively.
Loki chuckled. "It is not something that concerns you, little bird."
Little bird? Man this guy is just sending out 'looky here, I'm craaaazy!' signals.
"I do believe it concerns me, though," a voice said, entering my room.
Tony.
Why would it concern him?
"Loki, I have told you before to stay away from my girl, alright?" he demanded, looking angrily at the man on the couch.
How many people are going to try miserably to protect me? It's driving me insane.
"I can take care of myself, thank you all very much. I will hear what Loki has to say. Alone, that is." I said, walking to my kitchen and searching the fridge.
Tony walked out of the room, huffing but Sam looked disappointed as he left.
I returned to the couches with a bottle of lemon, lime and bitters in each hand. Loki took the one I offered him and I sat down.
"So, baby face, why are you here?" I asked, already giving him a nickname. His face was anything but similar to a baby's, whose face was well rounded, but his face had muscular angles. It only added to his attractive complexion.
He gasped slightly. He doesn't like the name?
"No, no, it's not that . . ." He replied to something I was sure I hadn't said out loud, but then again I could be wrong.
"Anyway, why are you here?" I asked out, opting out of using the nickname this time.
He smiled. "Before you lost your memory, you and I were . . . close, shall I say. I was thinking that I would be able to help you regain the past."
I thought for a moment bore replying. "How?"
Loki smiled again, this time with a hint of mischief. God of mischief: the name suited him well.
"There are many ways, my dear." He whispered, now close to my ear.
I shrieked and jumped up. "Gosh, tell me we weren't close in that way."
He laughed, genuinely, but didn't answer, which only made me more nervous.
"Right, I think it's about time you left now." I said, holding my head in my hands, distraughtly.
Loki mumbled something that was inaudible and left the room.
I turned to him to ask what he said, but he was already gone, leaving a god of mischief sized butt dent on my couch.
It made my chuckle, but then I quickly sobered down. Something was nagging at the back of my mind, and I couldn't place it.
'Your necklace is beautiful,' a note on my coffee table said. It was signed lazily at the bottom, 'Loki'.
I smiled to myself against my will. This guy was weird and crazy and a total mystery which makes him intriguing. But I don't want to be intrigued by him because the others seem to hate him and he apparently did try to take over the world.
In other words, he is a villain. This room was new to me, yet I felt a sense of déjà vu. It left a weird feeling in my stomach; an uneasy feeling.
It was empty, except for a white piano with a black leather bench. Beautiful.
I made my way softly over to the piano. Music filled my brain, overwhelming me.
Music is something I can remember. I can remember playing a song and then turning around and finding the others.
It was a vague memory, but it was there. I remembered.
I sat down an ram my fingers over the ivory and charcoal keys.
Then, almost like my fingers were a different body of their own, they danced over the keys and melody entered the room.It wasn't enough. When I finished the song I felt myself needing more, trying to grasp the memories that have been evading me for some time.
It was almost there, the past was right there, right in front of me, but I felt it slowly slipping away.
I didn't have enough music, as weird as it seems.
Music was my connection to my past.
My past.
My parents.
Oh shit."Hello?" A woman asked, opening the door I had just been knocking on.
I smiled at her. Her complexion was similar to my mine, obviously I received my looks from her.
"Avallone!" She cried, lunging forward and hugging me.
It didn't feel right.
"I - uh, I'm just not feeling it tonight, so can we reschedule for another night?" I asked, scratching the back of my head.
Her brown eyes widened and they started to dampen. "Avallone, please, don't do this again. Not again."
She was sobbing quietly now and I slowly backed away, unsure of how to react.I was running now, since I hadn't driven to the location I was given. I had taken a taxi there, but now I was running because I wanted to run. It felt good to just run away.
The wind whipped my hair away from my face and made me blink faster than normal.
But it felt so good.
And then, suddenly I was in front of the tower, puffing like mad.
It happened so fast. Maybe I had been running for a while but my thoughts distracted me and it seemed much shorter."Decided to cut the visit short?" Natasha asked as I walked into the main kitchen at the top floor.
I nodded and sat down, unwilling to answer with words. I just wasn't in the mood for it.
It wasn't just the red-headed lady in the room. The man, named Banner was sitting next to me and the giant blonde guy was sitting across from Natasha.
"Who were you visiting?" Thor asked, his blonde hair shining in the unnatural lighting.
"Her parents," Nat answered for me. She seemed to sense that I wasn't in the mood for talking. She sensed correctly.
I left the room and desired to wander the tower, and discover the rest of the maze.
The tower was huge, and bright. When close to the window on the left side, you could sometimes see the glowing off the neon A on the top if you were close enough to the higher floors.
But, that wasn't why I liked most about the tower.
I liked that there were hidden places that not everyone knew about.
Like, earlier in the week, after some roaming, I discovered a hidden balcony that overlooked New York. It was beautiful how the lights shined and glistened at night.
I could spend hours just perched on the railing, watching the lights dance before my eyes.
Maybe I didn't need to remember. I was quite content with staying here, like this, apart from the world, in my own little one.
It was alright. And suddenly, I was standing on the railing.
