CHAPTER THIRTY-FOUR

For what seemed like a time that was too short, we both pulled away, breathless. It was so intense, my head was swimming. The kiss wasn't crazily passionate or anything, it was just, well, special.
There wasn't really any right word to describe it, I just felt the electricity flow between us everytime we made eye contact, and when we kissed, well it was like a nuclear explosion. I'm not very good at describing how it felt, but that was pretty damn close.
"It should be around breakfast time, and I'm pretty hungry. What are we having?" He asked me as we walked to the kitchen. He was still shirtless, and I wasn't complaining.
I shrugged my shoulders, "Maybe some croissants. I like croissants." I was talking more to myself now, forgetting that Bucky was still standing there, listening to everything I said.
"The last time I had croissants was . . . oh God, I can't even remember the last time I had them! Maybe I'll ask that annoying red head, uhh, Natalia . . . no, Natasha, yeah that's it! Surely she would know, she seems to know everything about me, but then again, some things she surely wouldn't know."
All of a sudden, I was shocked back into the dialogue world when Bucky started chuckling. "I have never heard someone talk like that to themselves, and now I regret that. This is quite amusing."
I blushed, and hid my face in a cookbook. I would have to bake the croissants myself, so they probably won't taste as good as the shop bought ones, but they'll still taste pretty alright.
"Leave her alone, Bucky," Steve said, walking into the room. We both whirled around, probably for the same reason. That hobo can't tell him what to do, he is not Bucky's father,
Bucky walked up to Steve, his posture almost threatning. Oh no, this will not happen. I stepped between the best friends with my hands on my hips, and a cookbook tucked under the crook of one arm.
"And you will leave each other alone, got it?" I demanded, eyeing both of them individually. They slowly nodded, and Steve backed down, but Bucky still stood his ground.
"Bucky . . ." I warned, and he walked away. Steve sighed and held his heads in his hands. Captain America. I gasped at the sudden name sprining through my head. I had kind of forgotten about all of that. Great. Now it's back.
"He doesn't really like being told what to do." Steve scratched the back of his neck. "No shit, Sherlock." I mumbled under my breath, following Bucky into the kitchen.
"My name is James," He muttered as I came and stood beside him. "It's James. Most people call me Bucky, because that is what Steve calls me, but I want you to call me James."
I nodded my head, not really knowing how to respond to that.
"Avallone, Avallone? Where are you?" I heard a female voice scream. A shiver went down my spine. Natasha was so annoying, and she refused to leave my side for long. For once, I just wished that bitch would take a step back, and fall off a cliff.
Cowering behind Bucky James, I did my best to hide from her. Natasha came bounding into the kitchen, surprisingly agile for being in heels. I winced when she looked straight at Bucky.
"Cough her up, I have something to tell her." Cough me up? Is that the best way to tell someone to hand me over? "Bitch," I muttered under my breath as she waited there impatiently.
"Ooh, what was that Avallone?" She demanded, looking over Jame's shoulder. I smacked her across the face, and made a dash for it, but only got as far as the door when I came crashing down onto the floor with her body on top of mine.
"I'm a freaking agent, Avvy, you can't exactly outrun me." Her snarly voice whispered in my air. Oh God, let this be a dream. She hasn't even brushed her teeth this morning!
Slowly, she got off me and pulled me up, almost like a rag doll. "Now, come on, you have someone to meet." Natasha winked with her blue-green eye and dragged me down the hallway.
I cast a desperate look over my shoulder at James, and he shrugged. Luckily, he followed us.

"Thor! It's so good to have you back!" I exclaimed, running over to the blonde, muscular man and hugging him. He chuckled with his deep voice, making his chest rumble.
"And it's good to be back, Lady Avallone." He said.
I beamed him a happy smile and stepped back. I wasn't the only one who wanted to see him. "Oh my God, Avallone!" I heard a voice say. Looking around, I saw a girl with dark brown, curly hair and glasses come up to me. She squeezed me in a tight hug, making me gasp for breath.
"Darcy, let her go! Remember what Thor told us?" I heard another new female voice say. This time she had medium brown hair. Thor's arm was wrapped aroud her waist, and her hand was in the crook of his elbow. They were a couple?
"I'm Jane," She said, extending her hand. I took it and heartily pumped it up and down. Meeting people is so fun and exciting. "And, I'm Darcy," The other girl, with the glasses exclaimed, pushing Jane out of the way.
I laughed as I shook Darcy's hand. "And this is my brother Loki." Thor said, pulling a man with raven-black hair to me. His piercing blue eyes searched my face and his mouth held an unreadable expression.
"It's very nice to meet you," I extended my hand. He shook it coldly, dropping it as soon as he could. We all walked back to the kitchen together, the croissants being ready, and stomachs more than willing for food.
Jame's arm snaked around my waist as we dined on the couches, and I blushed. The room almost immediately fell silent, and all eyes turned to us.
"Avallone?"

AUTHOR'S NOTE:
Yikes, what a filler chapter that was! I shall try my best to write better and more interesting chapters in the future, but there has to be some with not as much excitement as the others, otherwise the story would be too full of crazy stuff. It would be like, BAM, oh, you're still recovering from the last surprise, well, too bad, BAM, and so forth. You get what I mean, right?
Good.
Anyway, enjoy the story. :-)
