A little over two hours went by.  Flew by.  They passed the joint back and forth until only a roach was left and discarded in a nearby ashtray.  Conversation between the two of them flowed so effortlessly.  They took the time to really listen to each other.  Eddie told her about the epic finale of his Hellfire campaign, how much he hated school and what he'd like to see happen with his band in the future.   Chrissy talked about where she wanted to go to school next year (Purdue or Notre Dame), life on the squad and eventually, the fall of her relationship with douchebag Jason Carver.

"Wow... That guy is even more of a prick than I thought."  He felt his fists tighten as anger grew inside him.  They had just gotten to know each other but he already felt so protective over her.   "You didn't deserve to be treated like that, Chrissy."

She was leaning comfortably on the couch facing him.  Her eye lids heavy, but not tired.  She sighed. "I know... it just took me a long time to realize.  You know my friend Jess?  Well her cousin even tried warning me last year after our first date.  She suggested I run and never look back.  She listed all the red flags that I stupidly ignored." She looked down and shook her head.

Eddie sat up a bit.  He reached out his hand to her chin and gently lifted it so she was looking at him.  Woah, that was a bold move, Munson. "Chrissy... you aren't stupid." He said warmly.

She shrugged.

"Hey, I'm serious." He offered her a friendly smile.  "In fact, you are the smartest person I think I've ever met." He looked deep into her eyes.  Were they always this blue?

"Thank you, Eddie.  Not just for saying that, for everything tonight.  I didn't mean to unload my dirty laundry on you." He would gladly do her dirty laundry for her any time she needed.  "I feel much better.  I haven't felt this relaxed in like, forever.  Like..like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders"

Eddie grinned.  "Anytime.  Seriously, day or night... you need someone to talk to... you need to chill out and smoke... need someone to punch that Carver guy right in his dumb face... I'm your guy."

Her nose crinkled when she laughed.  Just the cutest. "I owe you." She said quietly.

He had such an urge to kiss her right then and there but he resisted the temptation.  Instead, he took her hand and kissed the top of her fingers.  Chrissy bit her bottom lip a little trying to stifle her smile.  "How about a snack? You hungry?" Eddie offered.

"Sure" She was so happy.

Eddie got up and made his way to the small kitchen.  Chrissy followed suit.  He opened the cabinets in search of something to fulfill his weed induced hunger. Cans of soup? Absolutely not.  Bag of stale pretzels? No thanks. Ah hah! He reached into the back corner and took out a plastic packet.  "Popcorn?" He suggested as he turned around to find Chrissy a mere few inches behind him.

"Popcorn sounds perfect." She felt so much more comfortable then she had when she first arrived to the trailer.  Comfortable enough to even hop up on the counter.  Legs dangling over, while she watched Eddie put the bag in the microwave.  He set the timer for 2 minutes.

With his best effort, he tried to ignore the fact that she was now the perfect height and position, sitting on that counter, his counter , for him to take her legs, wrap them around his waist, press his body into hers explore her mouth with his tongue and fu-

"What do these mean?" Her voice breaking his intrusive thoughts. He felt her soft finger tips run along the tops of his rings.

He looked down.  On one hand he had a large skull, cross and pig.  And on the other, a class ring.  "Well," he began, "these three, I uh...". He wished they had a cool backstory.    "...honestly, I just think they're bad ass looking" he said sheepishly. She giggled.  "This other one is actually Wayne's senior class ring." He held it up closer for her to see.  She could read the numbers 1950 in bold.  "Uhh... yeah last year I was feeling like shit that I failed.  Again.  A bunch of my friends were graduating.  I was actually sorta depressed.." She listened, hanging onto each word. "Anyway, Wayne gave me his to cheer me up.  Motivate me. Y'know?"

"Your uncle seems like a great guy." She said as she traced her fingers along each ring.

"He's the best." He took a step closer to Chrissy so he was just about standing in-between her knees.

"Eddie, this year, you're going to get your own ring.  I just know it" she leaned in slowly towards his face. "This year will be different."

His heart was racing, trying to maintain self control.  "This year... is my year." He said quietly inching closer.

"Our year." She closed her eyes halfway as she looked at his lips.

Oh my god oh my god oh my god

"86 baby..." he whispered as he tilted his head ever so slightly and closing the remaining space between their faces.

BEEP. BEEP. BEEP.

Fuck.

Popcorn was done. The high pitch sound startled both of them as they jumped back.  Eddie spun around and opened the microwave door, carefully pulling out the steaming bag.  "Uh...behind your head Chrissy, there should be a plastic bowl."

She hopped off the counter and looked behind her.  She opened the cupboard door, grabbed the big plastic dish and placed it on the counter.  He tore open the bag at the top corners and shook the freshly popped popcorn into the bowl.  Eddie tossed a piece of popcorn in the air and caught it in his mouth.  He looked over at Chrissy with a goofy yet proud grin.

"What about me?" Her words were flirtatious.

Eddie took a piece of popcorn between his index finger and thumb, closed one eye and aimed at her face.  She opened her mouth, sticking out her tongue slightly.

Jesus fucking christ.

He tossed the popcorn in her direction, yet completely missed.  They both laughed as he grabbed another one.  Yet again, he missed.  The popcorn landed in her hair.

"Eddieee!" She playfully whined.

He met her with a smile.  "Whoops."  He reached over and removed the popcorn from her pony tail.  She leaned her hand in the bowl, took a piece of the salty snack and slowly put it in her mouth.  She never broke eye contact.

She's gonna be the death of me...

Eddie took a small step towards her.

Just fucking kiss her, dude...

Just as he was about to make his move, Chrissy grab a small handful of popcorn and tossed it in his face. Pieces now stuck and tangled in his wildly untamed hair.  He scrunched his face as she let out a belly laugh.  "Oh... Now it's on, Princess...". He scooped a bunch in his hand.
