((completely forgot to say good night/morning like I usually do at the end of the last one so goodnight/morning in advanced ^^))
Grey stood in wait at the edge of a hill, his ripped cape riding along the wind and rippling behind him. Though he still had wounds they weren't so deep, healing quick enough with the treatment he had been given. It still confused him on why the guardians would help him. He wasn't exactly on their side, if anything, he was on Pitch's. No matter what the man had done to the three of them, the side of darkness was where he belonged. He couldn't change that so he wasn't going to try. But one thing was for sure that Jack didn't need to be going back to that place.. Grey had almost thought he was nearing death when he was brought in, having to check the teen to make sure there really was life in the confused and weakened blue eyes. Ilia was coming soon enough.. she was too persistant to leave behind and she could take care of herself as long as he was there to make sure Pitch didn't lay a hand on her. He sat down in the slightly damp grass; it had rained the night before, staring up at the sky. The sun hadn't risen yet, it was so early morning and the timezone was different at the pole than it was in this place.. the forest next to Burgess. The most familiar entrance into Pitch's lair was here, beneath that broken bedframe, under the bed as he belonged. And Grey started to realize he wasn't sure if he should even go back to the pole afterwards at all. He was their enemy if anything and they treated him like a guest. It wasn't right for them to be so kind to him, he didn't deserve kindness. Not for his job.
"I'm here!" He was pulled from his thoughts as the small girl rushed up to his side, running at the speed she was well known for and stopping with a spin so that she didn't skid further. "Careful, Ilia, don't push yourself," he said quietly, red eyes glancing down at the child at his side warmly. Why was she so excited..? They were about to re-enter the place they had gotten so badly hurt in. "I know, I know," she rolled her eyes, jumping up and down with enthusiasm. It was like she couldn't keep still. He gave a small chuckle, not loud enough to be noticeable though, and started to walk forward. "We get the staff then leave. If you see Pitch then leave him to me," Death started, eyes narrowing slightly. The buckles that held his black clothes in their places rattled slightly with the wind. "I have to speak with him."
Ilia glanced up at her favorite person in disbelief. Speak with him..? Why? She knew full well that if anyone deserved to get a beating it was Pitch, although she knew that revenge wasn't a good thing at all. She also knew that if anyone deserved to give that beating, it was Grey or Jack. So why talk to him when he could so easily take him down? Grey knew what to expect now, the only reason she knew he had gotten caught before was because he was expecting what was coming. Still she followed after him, tagging along his side like a puppy to a trainer, bright eyes glancing up at his red ones every few seconds to check and make sure they stayed emotionless as they usually were. Sure Grey was blank most the times, but if he got a feeling too strong, he would usually accidentally let it slip and show on his face a split second before going back to being his cold, dark self again. After a while of walking on towards the cusionless bed in the middle of the woods, Grey stopped and Ilia caught the emotion he had let out a second before it vanished again. "Grey?" She tilted her head in question and he shook his own, raven black hair shaking over his shoulder with it. "Its nothing, lets keep going." He HAD seemed a little nerved the past few days. He was shy, that was obvious, but he didn't even visit Jack when he was unconsious, he had stayed away from the guardians and everytime he DID manage to pass by Jack, his eyes didn't leave the bandage on the winter spirit's cheek. It seemed to conflict him somehow and Ilia's nature, her curiosity, was driving her to know. She didn't want to ask Death, he seemed to be anxious with it, so she decided firmly that she would ask Jack the second they returned. Maybe he would know.. after all, the two seemed a little closer than they thought.
