Chapter 7

Yuki's P.O.V.

Where are those two going? I stand and ask to go to the bathroom. The teacher nods and continues to write on the chalk board. As I shut the door behind me, I run down the hallway, out the door, and follow Yona and Zero.

Yona's P.O.V.

"Zero, why did they call on us both? We've never worked together before, throwing us into a Mark without seeing if we can work together, seems wrong." I say. "Maybe they heard about us taking care of those Level E's near campus." He says with a shrug. "Hmm..." Is all I say. When we reach the location written on the paper, I grab Zero's arm to stop him. "What's wrong with you now?" He asks looking back at me. I have a bad feeling... I shake my head and let his arm go. "Nothing. Don't worry about it." I say. He furrows his brows but says nothing as we enter the abandoned factory. They didn't even provide a map of the factory... We walk further into the factory building and the bad feeling worsens. Finally I can't hide my discomfort anymore, and reach for Zero's arm. Before I can react, the floor underneath my feet gives out, and I fall inside. I land a ways down, on my left side, and bite my lip so I wouldn't scream. "Yona!" Zero calls out, peering down the hole I'd fallen into. "I-I'm fine, keep going, better if we split up anyways. Cover more ground in less time." I call up to him. "Are you hurt?" He asks. "Nothing I can't handle, just watch your step." I say. His eyes suddenly glow a faint Reddish-Purple, but as soon as he blinks it's gone. What the...no, can't be, I'm seeing things. "You're bleeding...Yona I see it, you need to get out of there, who knows what's down there." He says, ready to climb into the hole. "Don't! I know I'm bleeding but it isn't bad. Just look around up there, I'll be fine." I say, grab the flashlight out of my bag, and start walking. "Be careful Yona." He calls down before I hear the echo of footsteps. I tuck the flashlight into its holder on my shoulder, keeping the light shinning in front of me, pull out my weapons, hook them together, and slowly creep through the hall I fell into.

Zero's P.O.V.

Dammit, this isn't good, she's bleeding, and now I'm thirsty. Yona was right, some thing is wrong with this picture...but I can't put my finger on it. I kept my gun in my hand tightly, ready to shoot anything that attacks. A staircase is up ahead. As I climbed it, I hear a certain voice. "Zero! Yona! Where are you guys?" Yuki calls out. I silently curse before running back the way I came. When I make it to the entrance, I stop running. "Yuki, what the hell are you doing here? It's dangerous idiot!" I call over to her. "Then what are you two doing here? Where's Yona? What's going on?" She asks. "We're on an assignment from the Hunters Association, why do you need to know?" I ask annoyed. "So they took you out of class for that? They should've waited until class ended." She says. "Dammit Yuki get out of here, go back to the academy!" I say. "B-But..." she trails off. "Get out of here!" I yell. She flinched and takes a step back. The floor starts to give out, and she looses balance, I'm over to her in two seconds flat, and grab her arms before she can fall. Underneath her feet, I see a flash of a few things running away. My eyes widen. "Z-Zero! Help me up!" She says fearful. I raise her out of the hole, and toss her towards the door. She rolls a few times before stopping. "Ze-" I cut her off. "Get out of here Yuki, now!" I say before jumping into the hole. Should've known, those things are the ones making the floor collapse under us. "Zero!" She calls out but I ignore her and run in the direction of Yona.

Yona's P.O.V.

Did I just hear Yuki? I stop and turn towards the direction I came. I heard running. "Zero? That you?" I ask looking into the darkness. My flashlight was only lighting up a foot in front of me. No answer, just the sound of running. I take a step back, feeling uneasy. I hear a crunch and a howl of pain behind me. It makes me jump and spin around quickly. A Level E stood not two feet from me, holding his hand. I raise my weapon towards it, making it hiss like an animal. I hear the sound of skidding behind me, and spin around to face whatever it was. Three more Level E's were standing there, growling at me. One growls menacingly before launching at me. I fall backwards, losing my weapon in the process, and falling onto my butt. I quickly glance at my weapon and scoot backwards towards it. Another Level E kicks it out of the way. My eyes widen and I quickly stand up. Great, not only am I surrounded, but I have no weapon. I guess I'll have to go Old School on these creeps. One charges from my left, making me roundhouse kick it into another one. They roll as more growl and charge. I have no choice but to flip backwards out of their way, making the two who charged, slam into each other. I was close to my weapon again and so I military roll, until I'm right next to it. Quickly, I pick it up, and ready myself for an attack. After a while, I start to grow tired from constantly fighting. I don't think I can keep this up much longer...Dammit, I should've had Zero jump down with me. Another Level E is felled as I ready another attack, which comes. I slice my weapon through the air, turning a Level E to dust. If they keep attacking singularly, I can take them. As if reading my mind, of course, three charge at me but at different angles. I narrow my eyes in annoyance. "How annoying..." I say before holding out my weapon and spinning as fast as I could, all three Level E's are felled, but the rest charge. I'm able to fell one but the other eight still came. One knocked my weapon away from my hand, while another jumped onto me, which results in my grabbing it and throwing it off of me, as I staggered back after the throw, another holds out it's leg, knocking me over, and another pins me to the ground. I cry out as the Level E that pinned me, bites into my exposed shoulder, where one Level E had torn my jacket. The others close in slowly. The one biting me bites down harder and I scream in pain right before the Level E is ripped off of me and sent flying into the air, just as fire comes out of nowhere, burning the Level E to ashes. What the... I look in front of me to see Kain stood there, with fire still covering his hand. My eyes widen in disbelief. "What the hell are you doing here?!" I ask annoyed. Why is your hand on fire?! I wanted to add but don't. "I could ask you the same thing, you need at least two hunters to take down this many." He says calmly. "I know that, and I do have a second Hunter with me!" I defend. He looks around and back to me, raising a brow in confusion. "Ok so he's not here with me, here with me, but he is here, we got separated when I fell through the floor..but still! Now why are you here?!" I ask gritting my teeth. "Lord Kaname sent Hanabusa and I to take care of these Level Es." He says. I look around and back to him. "Let me guess, you fell through the floor too, didn't you." It wasn't a question, I already knew the answer. His eyes widen slightly before he looks away embarrassed, his face wasn't Red but he was none the less. I get up off the ground and face the creeps. "Well then, seems we'll have to partner up on this one. Don't get in my way, and you'll be fine." I say as we go back to back. "I guess so." he says as the fire on his hands grows. I smirk. "Neat little ability you have there leech." I say swinging at a few Level E's. He sighs. "Again with the name calling.." he says as he burns a few Level E's with the flames.
