Once I reach Cross Academy's main gates, a faint beep sounds, right before the gates open. Automated gates, smart. If only they knew what lived in the shadows beyond these grounds. I stop and look up at the sky. It was pitch black now, the moon was hidden behind the murky grey clouds. I continue walking deeper into the campus, keeping my eyes on the shadows as I went. I'm a Hunter, something like this comes naturally. I start to feel like I'm being watched, so I stop, and look around. I notice a pair of glowing Blood Red eyes, watching me behind a tree. Unlike the hungry gaze of Level E Vampires, these Red eyes didn't seem threatening, though there seemed to be a more prominent look within them. Something wild, and untamed. I couldn't see the person who belonged to those eyes, which slightly annoyed me. "I'm looking for Toga Yaguri. He's expecting me. Could you tell me where I could possibly find him?" I ask wanting to break the silence. "You should take care of that wound, it's dangerous to walk around in your current state." a semi-deep voice speaks up. Wound? What wound? "What are you talking about? I'm not wounded." I say cocking an eyebrow. The glowing Red eyes disappear for a few seconds, as whoever the person was closes his eyes, and sighs, before approaching me. I normally would take a step back, but I knew I wasn't in danger, at least not alot. It was still too dark to see the man's face or any kind of color besides his eyes, strong silhouette, and the White uniform. His White jacket was unbuttoned, that much I could tell. He reaches for my left arm, but stops, and looks at my face. He's a Vampire, I know that, and yet I feel no fear...strange. "May I?" he asks. "Sure, but I'm telling you, I am not injur--ACK!" I flinch at the sudden pain near my elbow. "You were saying?" he asks in a strangled voice. Vampire, open wound, not a good combination. This time I take a step back, more out of instinct than fear. "Keep your fangs to yourself, or I'll knock them out of your skull." I say glaring at the man. He rips his eyes away from my wound, and focuses his Blood Red eyes on mine again. "So, you know what I am then?" he asks. "I knew it as soon as I saw you creeping on me behind that tree. Your eyes aren't exactly hidden at night." I say rolling my eyes. A small chuckle catches my attention. "I'm glad I amuse you, now be a good blood sucking parasite and answer my question." I say with a touch of venom. "You see, I would've done that, but since you decided to name call, I think I'll let you find him yourself." The Vampire says and leans against the tree. I scoff and roll my eyes. "Fine with me." I say and start to walk off in a random direction. "Where are you going?" the Vampire sighs annoyed. "Where do you think I'm going?" I ask annoyed as well. "The wrong way." He says before walking in the opposite direction. I glance back and forth between where I was headed and where he was headed. With a sigh, I run after him. He was walking fast, so I had to practically sprint to catch up. It was a bad Idea because soon, I ram into his back, and fall backwards. He grabs my wrist before I hit the ground. His hand was almost burning and I find myself trying to remember if Vampires can run fevers. He pulls at my wrist so that I'm standing right again. "You okay?" he asks. "Uh...yes, I'm fine...are you running a fever or something?" I ask. "No, why do you ask?" he asks. "Because your ho--I mean you're hand is hot." I say and find myself blushing like a school girl. What the hell? He starts chuckling. "Thanks, that's gotta be the worse pick up line I've ever heard." he says and chuckles again. "Don't flatter yourself leech! I said you're hand is hot, not you in general!" I say defensively, cheeks warming even more. He chuckles again. "But to answer your question, no, I'm not running a fever." he says sobering up. Without letting go of my wrist, the Vampire starts walking again. We soon stop again. "Why did we stop?" I ask confused. The Vampire looks to his right and sighs annoyed. "I know you're there Kiryu." the Vampire speaks up. Kiryu? Why does that name sound familiar... "Let the girl go Kain." another man's voice speaks up before walking out of the shadows. I know that name, but I can't think of why. "Fine with me." the Vampire now known as 'Kain' says. At first he tightened his grip, but lets go soon after. He doesn't leave though. "Get lost, before I report this to the Headmaster." The man Kiryu says. "You're going to report it anyhow, so does it really matter. I wasn't going to hurt her." Kain says bored. "Then explain the smell of blood. Her blood to be exact." Kiryu says. This is going to bug me. Think Yona, think! Why do I know that name?! Finally it hits me. "Kiryu! Zero Kiryu!" I say out loud. Both guys look at me. Though their faces weren't able to be seen, I knew they were staring at me with odd looks. "That's you right?" I ask shocked. "Why does it matter? Do I know you or something?" Zero asks confused. "We use to train together under Yaguri's watch, been a long time since then." I say. "Oh yeah, Yona right?" he asks. I nod. "You're late." he says annoyed, grabs my wrist, and practically drags me with him. "Go back to your dorm Kain." is all Zero says. "Whatever." Kain says before we're out of earshot. Kiryu continues to drag me along. "Umm...Kiryu, could you by any chance not rip my friggin arm off?! Thanks." I say annoyed. He scoffs and slows down. "Why were you with that Vampire? Yona you are a Vampire Hunter, you should know better than that, plus, you're bleeding. Did you let him feed from you?" Kiryu asks disgusted. "No, I had come here right after completing a Mark. I didn't even know I was injured until Kain mentioned it, and told me it wasn't safe to be injured around the campus. I asked him to take me to Yaguri right before I threatened to knock his teeth out of his skull if he even tried to bite me. Besides, I have my weapon with me at all times and I'm very effective at hand-to-fang combat. Being a Hunter yourself, you should know what my credentials are. I can take care of myself perfectly fine." I say. "You're such an idiot." he breaths before openning a door I hadn't noticed. Pulling me towards a staircase, we make our way to the second floor, take a left at a two-way hall, and walk into the second door to our right. "Look who I found." Kiryu says and lightly pushes me infront of him. "Well you certainly took your precious time getting here." it was Yaguri's voice. "I'm here aren't I?" I ask and look to my right. Yaguri sat on a chair casually, with a toothpick in his mouth. "Yona, I'm aware that you didn't exactly want to come here and attend school but, that doesn't mean you can give me attitude. I am still your guardian until you turn 18. Therefore you go where I go. So ditch the attitude." Yaguri says strictly. I roll my eyes and look to the man sitting behind the desk. He was smiling at me and something seemed off about him. "Hello dear Yona! Come give your uncle Kaien a hug!" he says getting up, and walking towards me. I take a few steps back. "What's with this guy?" I ask with a raised eyebrow. Yaguri chuckles. "He's just a sad, strange little man. Pay no mind to him." Yaguri answers. "At least he isn't trying to get you to call him 'father' or 'dad.'" Kiryu says. "Don't be such a killjoy Zero. Just say it once, just once, and I won't bother about it anymore." Kaien says. Zero pretends to think about it. "No." is all he says before walking out the door. "WAAAAAAAAAA!" is all I hear behind me so I look and see Kaien crying. He keeps crying and crying until I am overly annoyed. I narrow my eyes and raise my hand in a fist. I'm gonna put him out of his misery. Yaguri grabs my injured arm and pulls me out of the room. "Let go of me! I'm just going to put him out of his misery!" I say struggling against the sharp pain and him. He chuckles. "You've always been a spit-fire." Yaguri says. "WAAAAAAA!" I still heard Kaien crying. "Come on just one hit and he'd shut up!" I say struggling still. "What the hell did you do?" Yaguri asks all of the sudden. "Huh? I didn't do it, the damn Level E I was hunting did. Now let me go!" I say annoyed still. "Yona." he says demanding my attention. I stop and look at him. "Leave the poor old man alone and come with me." he says before letting me go and walking down the hall. With one last look at the door, I reluctantly follow.
