Chapter 9

Yona's dream/flashback
Blood Red eyes and screaming. That's all I remember. "Find Toga, find Toga Yaguri! Tell him Mizuki sent you. I love you baby girl." Mother says right before those Blood Red eyes came behind her and trapped her within arms. The Blood Red eyes, that belonged to the unseen man lower to her neck, before biting down hard. I screamed almost as loud as mother. "Run Yona! Don't look back!" Mother screams, pointing towards the window. I stumble backwards, before climbing out the window, tears streamed down my face as I ran into the night. I ran, my vision was blurred from tears, I couldn't tell which way I was going, I couldn't see what was in front of me until I slammed into someone, who happened to be running in the direction I came from. I fall on my bottom and sobbed more. The running man had stopped when I ran into him. "Hey there little one, are you alright? I didn't mean to run into you." The man says with his deep voice. I sniffle, wipe my eyes, and look up to him. "Toga..." I say softly. "What did you just say?" The man asked. "Toga...I need to find Toga Yaguri...my mommy Mizuki...she told me to find him before the Red eyes attacked her and took her away from me...but I don't know where he is...the Red eyes hurt her...she told me to run, so I did...please, you have to help me find Toga!" I say desperately as more tears fell. The man falls to his knees, hanging his head low. Something fell from him to the snow covered ground, before he pulls me into his arms. "I'm here...I promise...I won't let anything happen to you." The man mumbles as he shakes. "Mister...Mister, mommy...mommy said...she said I had to find him, to tell him Mizuki sent me...please, take me...to Toga..." I say. "I...I...am Toga...Toga Yaguri is my name, you found me." The man says. I look at his face. "You're...Toga?" I ask. "Yes...I am." He says. "T-Then we have to go get mommy! We have to help her!" I say struggling to get out of Yaguri's hold. "We...We can't help her anymore..." he says trailing off and holding me tighter. I look at his face with wide eyes. He was crying. A trail of tears were falling from his left eye."B-But mommy said..." I trail off. "She told you to find me, and you did. Your mommy...your mommy won't be around anymore..." he says. "Huh? But...but why? Where'd she go?" I ask sniffling again. "She went to heaven." He says. "Heaven? She went to see grampa and gramma? But...but I wanna go too!" I say. "You can't, not just yet little one. You have to stay here with me for now." He says. "Why not? Mommy went, why can't I?" I ask confused. "You just can't yet, come on, let's get you someplace warm." Yaguri says. "Okay." I say. He lifts us up off the ground, and walks away. As we walked, I looked at his face again, a trail of tears were still falling from his left eye. I wipe at them gently before seeing an eye patch covering one side, and place my small hand over it. "What happened? Do you have a boo-boo?" I ask. He sighs. "I use to." He says. "What's this then? A band-aid?" I ask. He chuckles a bit. "Yea, it's a bandaid." He says. "Oh, okay." I say and yawn. "Are you tired?" He asks. I nod my already half asleep head. "Go ahead and sleep, you're safe now." He says softly. I nod one last time before my head rests on his shoulder. As I was drifting into sleep, I felt his grip on my small body tighten. "I'll protect you...I promise..." Is all I hear before I fell asleep.
End of dream/flashback
I wake up immediately, sit up, and just stare into my dark room. To this day...I still don't know why Yaguri fell to his knees, trembled, or cried...I've wanted to know for a while, but I've never been able to bring myself to ask. I sigh and lay back down onto my bed.
