Chapter 13

Yona's P.O.V.
Before I knew it, it had been almost 3 months since Yaguri had left, and still no word or anything from him. This isn't like him, I know he said he'd be gone for a while but...I can't shake this feeling something has happened... I sigh and look around. The association hasn't contacted me since the false accusations either... I continue to walk the school grounds. Zero has been more distant too, always disappearing, same as Yuki. Are they a thing? Do they sneak off to make out?  For some reason I can't picture them together. Zero can't stand her half the time. So then where could they be going? So many questions about everything flood through my mind, distracting me from my surroundings. So much so, I don't realize the oncoming attack. Sharp pain ricocheted through my body, forcing me back to my senses. The force of attack sending me flying into the bushes nearby. What th-- I tear myself from my thoughts again and dodge the next attack. The attacker was yet another Hunter. My eyes widen and I move out of the way as the bulky man lunges at me. Another Hunter?! I thought we cleared it up already?! I narrow my eyes and dodge. "If its about that Mark you're mistaken! Ren was an eye witness, I'm not a vampire!" I yell as I dodged. "Lies!" The man yells angrily and attacks again. I'm getting tired of constantly dodging, time to get serious. I pull out my weapons and block the next attack with them. "What the hell are you talking about? I'm not lying! Ask Ren yourself!" I say struggling against his strength. "That's impossible and you know it!" He says putting all his strength into pushing me away. I lose my footing and fall onto the ground. He tries attacking again but I block again. "What the hell are you talking about?!" I ask thoroughly confused. " Don't you remember, or was he so forgettable that you didn't pay his death any mind when you killed him?!" The man says enraged and my eyes widen, and I freeze. Ren's...dead? Tears swell in the corner of my eyes. "No...no you're lying!" I say and uppercut him, sending him falling backwards onto his back. I push the edge of my blades to his neck in an X shape, stopping all movement. "I know you're lying, because me and a few others watched him leave the school grounds." I say glaring at him. "Oh really? If that's the case, why did they find his corpse along the road leading to the academy? Judging by the direction he was in, he hadn't even gotten to the academy yet, on top of that, he wrote in his own blood your name!" The man says angrily, breathing heavily. My eyes widen yet again. W-What? Murdered? N-No, he definitely left safe and sound, I never even hit him with my weapon! As I run this through my mind, I don't realize the hold on my weapons loses until its too late. The man had shoved me backwards, slamming me onto my back as he started strangling me. I struggle against his grip, gasping for air as he squeezes harder, I dig my nails in his face and neck. No...no this isnt true! I didn't kill him! I can't die like this, I have to... As I slowly lose strength and my vision fades in and out, my hands fall to the ground. "You'll pay for what you did you monster! Now do me a favor and just d--" the hunter is cut off as he's sent flying away from me, and I gasp and cough repeatedly as air assaults my lungs. Someone grabs my shoulders, trying to talk to me, but my ears were ringing too much to hear their words. They violently shake my shoulders, shouting at me, as they did so, the ringing slowly lessens, and I hear the mumbles from them shouting at me, the voice gets louder and louder and my vision becomes clearer and clearer. "...na, YONA!" Kiryu's voice assaults my ears loudly and I cringe and manage to cover my ears. I try to speak but my voice was horse, and comes out a whisper. "Ren...he's...dead..." I whisper, unable to speak properly. "What? That's not possible! He was fine when he left!" He says shocked. "MURDERERS! LIARS! SHE KILLED HIM!" the Hunter yells, sounding like he was struggling against something. "Keep talking and I'll kill you myself!" A familiar voice yells at the Hunter. I look towards the Hunter immediately. Kain had the Hunter by his shirt, and a couple feet off the ground, glaring at him with glowing red eyes. He looked more angry than I'd ever seen him. "Let me go you damn bloodsucker!" The Hunter yells angrily. "See, there's that name calling again. Funny, I don't seem to care if she calls me names, but you..." I cut Kain off as his eyes glow even redder and his grip on the man tightens. "S-Stop!" I manage to be louder than a whisper, Kain looks at me immediately. "L-Let...him...go. Please.." I say, even though my throat hurt to speak. He drops the Hunter, who's ankles give out on him as his feet hit the ground, making his legs buckle, making him fall onto his stomach. Kain chuckles at the Hunter's pained groan, but glares at him even still. Why...is he so angry? If I hadn't stopped him...would he have killed that man? I shake put of my thoughts, grab ahold of Zero's shoulder, and shakily raise myself from the ground. Once there, Zero helps me stay standing. I painfully swallow, and clumsily walk towards Kain. As I reach him, I turn to the Hunter. "I know...you may not...believe me but, I have witnesses...that saw him off from the academy...with me." I say. "I was one of them. Ren left, he had a smile on his face, and was planning to goto the association to clear the misunderstanding. If you don't believe Yona, I can show and prove she isn't A vampire. It's the same way I proved to Ren." Zero says walking up. "How so? Show me, I dont believe it for a second." The Hunter says angrily. Zero pulls his gun out. "You know I have an anti-vampire gun right?" Zero asks. "Yea, so what?" The hunter barks out. Zero looks to Kain. Kain backs up a good number of paces. Then Zero aims at me, and shoots. The Hunter stares in shock as the bullet hits me, but I'm unharmed. "H-How is that possible?! She killed him, she's a Level E!" The Hunter yells. "Why are you so sure she's the one who killed him?" Kain asks. "Ren's blood. Someone wrote my name..." I say. "So you're automatically the killer because your name was written? That's stupid." Kain says. "Someone is framing her. That has to be it." Zero says. "If you really are innocent, you'll turn yourself in, and they will determine it themselves!" The Hunter says. "Are you an idiot? That's exactly what the person after her wants. If she turns herself in, they'll kill her." Kain says annoyed. "I agree with the vampire. It'd be foolish to do that." Zero says. They're right. "What else can I do? It's not like they're going to allow him to live, knowing the truth. He'd be killed just like Ren." I say. "Then someone will accompany him to the association. He'll be safe if one does." Kain says. "True, but who would go? Anyone who shows up with him will be brought in for questioning. Not only that but, it'd have to be a human and a hunter in order to be trusted. But with Yaguri gone, and Ren dead, there's no one." I say, fear creeping into my heart. It's hopeless... "Wasnt the headmaster a vampire hunter? And he's human." Kain says. "They won't trust an airhead like him. Not only that, but he lost favor a long time ago." I say, remembering what Yaguri told me about. Kaien Cross was a very famous Hunter but once he became friends with a Pureblood, he lost all respect. I sigh. "So what? We just let them keep coming and attacking you under false pretenses?" Zero asks. "The only thing we can do." I say. "What?" Both Kain and Zero ask. "We find Yaguri." I say.

I'M SO SORRY MY DEAR READERS !!! I didn't mean to be gone for so long I swear! I just couldn't figure out how to word what I was planning for this story! I know the goal but didn't know the steps to get to that goal :(  please don't hate me! I'll try to update more often, now that I've been able to word the thoughts in my head :D
