Nathalie woke up coughing "cough, cough, argh, cough, cough" she groaned. Nathalie checked the time and it was 2 o'clock in the morning, she tried to go back to sleep, but her coughing wouldn't let her.
Nathalie heard a knock at the door, "come in" she answered and to her surprise it was Gabriel. He was wearing his grey pyjamas and he sat on the rim of her bed.
"Hey! You ok? I could hear you coughing from my room" Gabriel spoke softly "sorry for, cough, cough, disturbing you" Nathalie replied in between coughs "it's ok" he replied while patting her back.
Gabriel made a warm ginger and honey tea for Nathalie. Once she had finished her tea, she felt a little bit better and she tried to go back to sleep.
In the morning, Nathalie was woken up by a knock at her door, but she wasn't fully awake and after the second knock, she said "yes".
Gabriel walked in with a tray full of breakfast foods and he placed the tray in front of Nathalie, "hi! How you doing" he greeted "I've been, cough, cough better" she slowly held the teacup to her lips, savouring the warmth "your coughing still bothering you" he asked "yeah, it's being a right pain and I could barely get any sleep last night" she complained.
Nathalie finished her breakfast. "You up for a game of chess" she offered "only because you know you'll win" he added cheekily.
Nathalie closed all the little locks on her orthoses, her and Gabriel walked to the chess board and they sat in the armchairs opposite each other.
Their game went on for quite some time. They were almost finished, but Nathalie's tiredness caused her to move her chess pieces without thinking.
This didn't go unnoticed by Gabriel and he said, "Nathalie, do you want to go and have a lie down" he stared at her head resting on the table, "I can't, my orthoses are out of charge" she showed him the red indication on the battery power.
Gabriel opened all the little locks on Nathalie's orthoses, he wrapped his arm around her waist and he lifted her out of the armchair.
Nathalie managed to walk a few steps, before her weakened legs collapsed under her, Gabriel managed to catch her before she hit the ground and he lifted her up bridal style and he gently placed her in bed, lying on her back.
"Nathalie I'm so sorry for making you use the damaged peacock miraculous, if it wasn't for me, you wouldn't have gotten sick, just like Emilie to begin with" he stared at her fatal position "it's ok Gabriel, I chose to use the miraculous, despite it being damaged, I was fully aware of the risks that I was taking" she gave him a small smile, before closing her eyes.
Gabriel tucked Nathalie under the covers, he put her orthoses on charge, he dimmed the lights and he left her room without making a sound.Nathalie was asleep for a good three hours, due to her coughing interrupting her sleep last night.
Nathalie woke up, she put her orthoses on and she walked to the bathroom. Nathalie came back from the bathroom and she saw Adrien standing in the doorway, "hi! Adrien, do you, cough need anything?" she question "umm no, I was just wondering if you wanted to play a game of chess with me" he asked "of course" she replied.
Nathalie and Adrien were playing five rounds of chess and Nathalie was winning every single round, now that she was fully rested. Their matches lasted all through the day and Adrien kept asking for rematches, because he was determined to beat Nathalie, but he didn't.
