"Adrien, wake up, your going to be late!", Nathalie walked into his room and she sat on the edge of his bed, shaking the sunshine boy's shoulder.
After 3 shakes, Adrien woke up, "Hmmm!", Adrien groaned as he rubbed the tiredness out of his eyes, "come on Adrien! You've got 20 minutes to shower and get dressed before breakfast", Nathalie looked at the cinnamon roll child, who was half awake.
Once Nathalie had left his bedroom, Adrien got out of bed. He felt something tight in his throat, but he just brushed it off as if it was nothing.
Adrien undressed himself and got into the shower. He started singing his favourite, Bad habits by Ed Sheeran, "every time you..... come around.....", Adrien tried to sing, but his voice kept breaking.
"Know I can't..... say no.....", the teenage boy tried to sing again, but his voice kept cracking and breaking, "what is happening to me!", he shrieked to himself.
Adrien wished he could enjoy the water that showered over his body, but he knew that if he took too long, he would be late for school.
Adrien had finished getting dressed and he sat at the dining room table. Nathalie entered the room a few minutes later, giving the sunshine boy his food and she stood besides him, "Adrien! You just have school and piano practice for today", she read out his schedule, "Hmmm!", was all he said.
"Are you okay? Adrien", she asked, pulling out a chair and sitting next to the boy, who she sees as her son.
Adrien didn't answer her. He got out of his seat and he quickly ran up the stairs to his room, leaving Nathalie in shock.
Nathalie knew that something was wrong with Adrien and she intended to find out what it was.
Nathalie walked up to Adrien's bedroom, softly knocking her knuckles against the door, but after hearing no response from the young model, she walked in, only to find Adrien not in his room.
She walked to Adrien's bathroom, gently tapping the door and she said in a low voice:
"Adrien, are you in there? Is it ok if I come in".
There was still no response. "Adrien, I'm coming in!", she warned him, before pushing the door open a little, just encase he was using the function of the toilet.
Nathalie peaked through the small gap in between the door and the frame. Once she had seen that Adrien was not on the toilet, she pushed the door fully open and she walked in.
She saw Adrien sitting with his knees pulled up to his chest in the bathtub, fully clothed with no water and looking sad.
The raven-haired woman sat next to Adrien in the bath, with her legs crossed.
"Adrien are you ok? Have you got a headache? Stomach ache? Temperature?", she felt his forehead, but he didn't have a temperature, and continued to list every possible reason why he wasn't acting like himself today.
The sunshine child broke down into tears, wrapping his arms around the woman he so deeply loves and cried into her shoulder.
"It's ok! It's ok! Just tell me what's bothering you!", she spoke softly, while rubbing his back, to calm him.
"My voice keeps.... cracking and breaking... whenever I talk.... and it hurts.... when I speak....", Adrien spoke in between whimpers, and he wiped his tears away with his hand.
"Don't talk! Otherwise, you'll strain your voice", Nathalie advised, looking at the sunshine boy's teared stained face, made her want to cry as well.
She used her initiative and handed Adrien a note book and pen, "here Adrien! If you want to say something, just write it down".
Once Adrien had stopped crying, he started writing:
"Why is my voice cracking, breaking and hurting!", he wrote inside the note book, tearing the page off and handing it to the woman he loves and cares about.
Nathalie read the note and she instantly knew what was happening.
"Adrien! Remember when you were having wet dreams and I told you that it was a part of puberty!", he nodded, remembering the event that happened a little while back.
"Your voice cracking and breaking is also a part of puberty!", Nathalie told him.
"During puberty, the larynx grows larger and thicker, it happens to both boys and girls. A girl's voices only deepens by a couple of tones and the change is barely noticeable, whereas boy's voices start to dramatically get deeper", she educated Adrien about the changes happening in his body.
"Then why do I feel so embarrassed about it?", Adrien wrote, tearing off another piece of paper from the note book and handing it to Nathalie.
While Nathalie was reading the note that Adrien had written. He looked down at the bathtub, feeling flustered about what he wrote.
The raven-haired woman cleared her throat before speaking:
"It's normal to feel embarrassed about the sound of your voice, everyone goes through it to some extent. After a few months, you'll sound just like an adult!", Nathalie reassured his worries.
"Your lucky! You've never gotten embarrassed before!", the young model envied her flawlessness, causing the assistant to scoff:
"Trust me Adrien! I've been embarrassed many times before!".
"How?", Adrien stared at her, furrowing his brows in confusion.
"I was about 9 when this happened. I had gotten my very first period during P.E class, but back then, I was so oblivious to what a period was. In my primary school the P.E dress code was that boys wear black and girls wear white. Anyway, I kept feeling painful aches in my abdomen, but the coach just kept telling me that it was just nerves of excitement and that doing the splits would ease my nerves. So, I did the splits and once I had done it, massive amounts of blood poured out of my body, staining my clothes and the mat. I was so embarrassed that day", Nathalie told the cinnamon roll child about her embarrassing experience in primary school.
"Is that why you take a day off work once every month?", Adrien concluded, "yes Adrien! And the reason for that being, is the severe pain I get during the first day of my periods!".
"Then what's with your shrunken clothes!", the young boy pointed out, only just realising, "your father kindly offered to wash my clothes, accidentally shrinking them in the process. I've ordered new clothes, but they'll take at least two days, so for now I'm wearing my old clothes", Nathalie readjusted her sweater, pulling it down to cover her ribs, that had managed to show once again.
"Shall we get out of this bathtub and sit on something a little more comfortable, like a bed?", the raven-haired woman suggested, feeling the material of the bath hurting her bottom.
"To be honest, I would actually like to lie down, but I desperately need to use the toilet first", Adrien crossed his legs and they both just smiled at each other.
Nathalie got out of the bath, leaving the room for the blonde boy to do his business in private.
Once Adrien had came out of the bathroom, he rested in bed and Nathalie, who he sees as his mom, made him chicken soup and chamomile tea.
For the rest of the day, Nathalie stayed by Adrien, helping him fall asleep, reading him stories, playing quiet board games, and just pretty much doing anything he needed.
