Aaliyah got out and walked to the gate and put the code in and pulled into the drive. She was here to visit her folks, she'd been so busy with photoshoots, so as soon as she got the time she came down to seem them.

"Daaaaaad it's cold!" she said ringing the bell.

"Loud ass." her dad said opening the door.

"Hi." she smiled before kissing his cheek.

"Mhm you ain't got a house of your own?" he joked making her roll her eyes.

"You're so horrible, hey honey." Salice said hugging Aaliyah tightly.

"Looks like I came at a good time." she said seeing breakfast being plated up.

She washed her hands and sat down; her dad had an online meeting so he excused himself and went to his office. Aaliyah had been in the house for two minutes and Salice could see something was going on.

"Who's upset you?" she asked sitting down and sipping her tea.

"Nobody." Aaliyah shrugged her shoulders, she took a mouthful of pancake before looking back up to Salice.

"Jayce?"

"He hasn't upset me....just annoyed me."

"What happened? I noticed you two weren't speaking at the cookout...then you disappeared." Salice hoped she would be open and honest about this.

"It's complicated and I hate complicated."

"Okay so explain it to me."

"I love him, if you asked me months ago I'd say I loved him so much it blinded me. But now it's the opposite, I don't feel the same around him. This life he lives that he thinks is normal literally has him in a chokehold." she expresses before taking a big gulp of orange juice.

"You sound just like your mother you know that?"

"I do?" Aaliyah said as a small smile appeared on her face.

There was no bad blood between Aaliyah's mother and father when they separated. They were trying to work for Aaliyah's sake but soon realised they didn't want her to see them pretending to be happy. Her mother and Salice were on more than good terms, they genuinely liked one another.

"Mhm. My advice to you is to really think if he's worth it honey. I remember the amount of times me and your father had the same conversation over and over. I hated how much time he'd spend in these things he'd call buisness meetings. The few times where he'd been arrested it all got too much."

"So what did you do?" Aaliyah questioned.

"We took a break. Two months later we met up and he told me that he'd got his own property and was working to building a company with his brother. He had a plan and made it a reality."

Aaliyah let out a breath she didn't know she was holding, "I've messaged him, just waiting for a reply. I think being friends is for the best, we can't keep this up."

"Well let's hope it all works out, hmm." she nodded.

Aaliyah waved to her dad as she drove off and headed in the direction of the cemetery. She didn't feel like going home and needed some time for herself.

"Hi mommy." she mumbled sitting down on the grass.

She laid down the fresh flowers she had brought. Her mother's favourite flowers were sunflowers so she always brought a bunch and kept some in her apartment.

She sat there talking, it might sound silly but it really did help her. She felt a gust of wind blow bye as she headed back to her car.

"Damn." she mumbled wiping her tears away.

Her phone started ringing, it was Jayce. She cleared her throat before pressing accept, "Hello."

"Wassup mama, sorry I ain't answered ya message I've been out all day with Sania." he said, Sania's little voice could be heard in the background.

"It's fine, I just wanted to talk a little." she said, right now she was emotionally exhausted so she wanted this all to be over.

"If friends is the only was to keep you in my life ian got a problem with it....I just wish we coulda worked." he said honestly, she was the love of his life so he had no idea what he was going to do.

Aaliyah cleared her throat as she felt a lump in her throat, she couldn't get her words out."I'll talk to you later?" she asked, he nodded as if she could see.

"I love you ya know?" he said, no matter how many times he said it she never felt it.

"I love you too." she mumbled before hanging up.

The light knocking on the door made Aaliyah's ears perk up. She walked over and opened the door, she didn't realise how much she'd missed Brianna until she saw her. She gave her a big tight hug, Brianna returned with the same energy.

"Hm I've missed you." Aaliyah mumbled, not wanting to let go.

"I've missed you too...look at me." Brianna said, she moved back from the hug and grabbed her chin.

"Hm you been crying? What happened?" Brianna frowned, now concerned.

"You're in my head that's what." Aaliyah shook her head as she made her way over to the kitchen.

"Explain." Brianna frowned, she closed the door behind herself before following her to the kitchen.

"I went to see Jayce, to talk it all out. All I could think about is what you and Chelsea have been saying. I had to tell him staying friends was for the best and he said he was fine with it." Aaliyah said avoiding eye contact.

"You want to be friends?" she asked, Brianna was just glad to hear they weren't back together. It was always the right answer so she was happy that Aaliyah could see that.

"If it's what's best....what about me and you?" Aaliyah questioned timidly, Brianna was all that she'd been able to think about.

Brianna walked over and flicked Aaliyah's hair behind her shoulders, "You need time for yourself baby. But I'm always here okay?" she said.

Aaliyah nodded her head, Brianna cupped her face and gave her a kiss. "Can we just go to sleep? I wanna pretend none of this happened?"

Brianna nodded her head, she felt tired herself. So both girls headed into the bedroom and stripped before getting under the sheets.

"I love you." Aaliyah said before kissing her cheek.

"I love you more." Brianna said before giving her another kiss. No more words were exchanged, they simply cuddled up and fell asleep.
