Maddie's Mistake

~3 weeks later~

I woke up two hours late, to twelve texts thirteen missed calls and an email, all from Maddie, I sighed and called her back, it rang once before Maddie cries out "Jessie! I need you to come over now!" She wailed, "what do you need?" I mutter, rubbing my eyes, pushing myself out of my bed, and removing my soft pajamas from my body.

I put on a pair of sweat shorts from Pink and a pair of Nike flip flops with a basic white t shirt, I put my glasses on instead of having to go through putting my contacts in. I push the door to my room open and head outside to my car, and start the short drive to Maddie's house.

I probably could have walked but it had rained the night before and I didn't dare risk ruining my comfortable flip flops. It felt like an hour though, when I finally arrived. Nick was sitting on Maddie's couch in her living room, while Hunter was pacing, and Joe was texting someone, probably Lizzie, I think, Hunter looks towards me, "Why are you sleeping in during a time like this?! Go see my girlfriend! Go see her now!" He squawks, I head up the stairs, hearing Maddie crying.

Lizzie's phone is sitting on the bed while Maddie leaned against the side of it, I widened my eyes and fell to Maddie's side, while Lizzie checked her phone, "Hunter wants to know what's going on, and you have 30 more seconds before we check" Lizzie says, and I look at Maddie, "Check what?" I ask as Lizzie's phone let's out an alarm tone, Maddie pulls herself up, "are you sure you want to check it Mads?" Lizzie asks, Maddie nodded, walking towards the bathroom, once she's out of sight Lizzie turns to me, "Is Maddie okay?" I ask Lizzie, she opens her mouth to speak but Maddie's voice echoes from the bathroom.

"FUCK!"

Lizzie and I scramble from our seats on the floor to Maddie, she's leaning against the sink staring at a white stick in her hand, it dawned on me all at once, it was a pregnancy test, with a blinking pink plus sign on it.

Maddie, my best friend since I could remember was pregnant.

Maddie, the girl who had been there for me through everything was pregnant.

My phone obsessed best friend was going to have a baby.

There was going to be a baby in nine short months, maybe even less?

Maddie was pregnant.

Oh god, Maddie...

Right as I left the room I could hear Lizzie and Jessie start talking, I saw the stick turned over on the counter and I lifted it up carefully, and just seeing the plus sign, which was an obvious "you're pregnant" I cried out.

"FUCK!"

Lizzie and Jess threw the door open maybe a minute later and saw the test in my hand, Lizzie's hand flew to her mouth, "Mads." she whispered, "Lizzie." I whimpered, hugging her, while Jess joined in.

"We can get through this right, I mean we put up with Joe, Hunter, and Nick, babies can't be that different." I say weakly, Jess closed her mouth to muffle a smirk, while Lizzie looked in thought for a second, "Yeah I guess your right." I say,

Then a thought bombarded my head, Hunter, what would I tell Hunter? He loved me, right? He wouldn't leave me, right?

"I need to talk to Hunter" I say, Jessica and Lizzie nod, and head out of the room, Hunter comes up a few seconds later and looks at me, I'd discarded the test into my pocket so I could tell Hunter with words.

"Hunt.." I say softly, going into Hunter's arms, "You love me right?" I ask, Hunter nods, "What's going on Mads?" he asks.

"I'm-" I hesitate, "Hunter I'm pregnant." I sigh.

  Hunter unlatches himself from me, and turns, "Where are you going?" I ask.

Hunter runs a hand through his hair, "I need time to think." he says and leaves the house.
