It was two days after the Wattys Team e-mailed me I found out that Nights of Disquiet is one of the shortlisted entries for this year's Watty Awards. This is my first political novel and this will not be the last. I remember those nights when I wrote the plot, chapter outlines, and the names of my characters in the novel.
Jess Hernandes will always have a special place in my heart. It is through her character that I was able to express my views about journalism and politics.
To tell you, one of the reasons I wrote this is to inspire others. I want it to be an eye-opener to some that journalists are always at risk for telling the truth. That disinformation is a disease that separates many Filipinos. That the only way to defeat corruption is by voting wisely.
I want to thank the WattysPH for picking my novel. I only have small followers here and I don't even know what is gonna happen next. But I'm truly honored that my novel has been chosen along with other shortlisted stories.
I'll continue writing socio-political novels soon.
The writer,
Jenevieve Tumon
