Compete Mess
Chapter 13
Camp Fire Stories
The sky didn't take too long to start to change colors. It was quickly becoming apparent to Lake that they would be staying the night outside. Apparently Ingo used to do it all the time when he was in another dimension and knew what he was doing.
Ingo threw a pokeball out and a vibrant purple glow overtook the area.
"Chandelure." The pokemon's suave voice called out to its master. Its eyes downcast at the young child. Lake had never had the chance to really see a pokemon up close before. Mostly she watched them from afar as they did their own thing, or when other people walked with them. Although she had seen them battling on tv before, but rarely.
"Wow..." Lake whispered, reaching up, touching the cold steel arm. She honestly thought it would be hot because of the torch atop it. But it was literally cold.
"It's a ghost/Psychic type." Lake jumped and turned around looking at Ingo.
"Gh...Ghost?" She asked. Ingo chuckled and ran his fingers over her head reassuringly.
"Do not fear, my Chandelure will not harm you. Now, come eat some soup while its warm. I'm afraid the night will be cold. Its best to get warm while we can." He sat down a bowl of soup and a spoon for her.
Lake took a sample of the food, it took her a second to recognize the flavor. It tasted a little like a familiar nut from long ago. She took another bite, and then another. Soon enough the bowl was empty and she set the bowl down. The light over them from the purple pokemon began to fade just a little. As she lay down on the crumbling leaves she could smell the campfire, and hear the crackle it made.
She jumped awake at a sudden sound. Above them the pokemon floated, but she could tell that it was asleep, and lightly weaving back and forth. She looked at her fingers seeing that the pokeball that Ingo had given to her was open. She looked around clutching the pokeball to her chest.
Both Ingo and Emmet were sleeping curling up on either side of her. Not close enough to touch, but close enough to be alerted to her distress...or at least that was the plan.
She looked around the glade. Many far off cries, and movements caused her fear. She heard something nearby and jumped up and back away from the pokemon that was moving around in the darkness. It stood up, stuffing something into its mouth. The glowing purple eyes looked over her. The lightly purple and gray fur glistened in the amber light. The creature was tall, and its fingers like knives.
In her mind this wasn't good. She cried out in horror, jumping up, and she ran.
Ingo jumped at the sudden sound his manage made. He looked around for any sort of danger. All he spotted was his Sneazler, and Chandelure. But then again Emmet could emit some pretty inhuman snores when he's exhausted.
"Come on! There's not a moment to lose!" Ingo jumped up. Emmet was fast on his heels. The young girl couldn't have gotten far right?
"Lady Sneasler! Can you find her?" The pokemon sniffed the air. Running into the shadows.
"Lake!" Ingo yelled. They broke the treeline only to enter what could only be seen as an old amusement park. Within were old buildings, rides, food stands, and a large tent in a corner. Emmet found himself to be scared, the darkness was only going to play games.
"Electross! Let's shed some light on this drury place." Emmet threw his pokeball out. The Electross used its electric attack on the circuit boards. Giving the whole park enough electricity to begin its start up.
The fairy lights turned on above them, and the rides started.
Off in the distance a scream could be heard.
"Lake!" The subway bosses' strained voices rang out above the song of the Carousel.
