Chapter 18

New/Old faces

Emmet bent down and scooped up Lake as she held the map close to her. Staying here wasn't good for her. The room was freezing and the stove was broken.

Emmet ran right into the innkeeper who gawked at the room.

"What the hell happened?!" He yelled at Emmet. Emmet did the next best thing. He told the truth.

"Some guy broke in through the window, fought my brother, and kidnapped him." He told the innkeeper who's hands covered his mouth. The gasp that escaped his large mouth shook his heavyset body.

Honestly to Lake he looked pretty huggable. He looked just as heavy as Santa.

"I'll inform Officer Jenny." Lake was about to say that she was busy with her case. She however was whisked away from the room. A bag in his hands. At least there was some extra clothing in there. Walking around in feety pajamas in the cold wasn't ideal for someone who was still sick.

Running out into the street Emmet was sure there was a vehicle rental place. Getting from their current area to the observatory in this snow was going to be...

"Ingo?" Emmet stopped, it wasn't the first time he had been mistaken for his brother. Especially when out of uniform. He was wearing random colored pajamas. It was just a regular shirt with a pair of soft pants.

Emmet held Lake closer to his chest in order to protect her from the threat he was turning to. At least, that's what he was thinking...

A young girl walked out of the stables. A Stantler followed close behind her. She looked at Emmet's face and her own broke into a huge smile.

"It is you Ingo!" The girl almost ran up and hugged him if Emmet hadn't held out his hands to stop her.

"I am Emmet. Ingo is my older brother." The girl gasped and nodded knowing just who he was talking about.

"He used to talk about having someone follow closely next to him. But you always wore white." The girl said as she looked at Lake. "but he never said you had a daughter.

"Ah, indeed that would be me, and this is Lake. We are on our way to rescue my brother as he is being held captive by s...

"Warden Ingo needs help?!" The girl climbed up onto the Stantler and motioned to the stables. "Grab one and we'll go. Hold that kid on tightly. I'm Akari."

Emmet's eyes brightened up.

"You're that girl he told us about!" He chuckled, pulling Lake closer to himself. "It's good to know your...wait...what are you doing here?" He asked. Akari pointed toward the fields.

"The Bouffalant are passing through toward their grazing areas. It's the best time to do research, and maybe catch a few." She held up a pokeball as she spotted Emmet come out of the stables. Even wearing different clothing. Indeed all white, just not his uniform.

Lake watched the pokemon and then looked up at Emmet who bent down to pick her up.

"Alright hold on tight to him." Emmet informed climbing up just behind her and held onto her and the moose type pokemon.

Ingo groaned, covering his eyes. He had no idea what happened, or why his head hurt so much. He tried to rub his eyes with his hands but his arms wouldn't cooperate. He looked around at the other side of the chair and paused. He was tied up.

He struggled with his bindings for a moment. He gritted his teeth and growled trying his best to get his hands from the ropes. The only thing that ended up happening was the rope burn tore at his skin.

"Ah, hello there Mr. Subway Boss, Ingo." Ingo looked up at the smartly dressed heavy set man. His eyes looked lazy and he smelled of cigars.

"Are you the boss?" Ingo asked. Oddly his jaw hurt rather badly even to talk.

"I am."

"I suppose it would be useless to ask you to stop your efforts to harm that young passenger." He sat up straight like he was conducting business. Although he wished he had his uniform on. He was currently wearing his pajamas, and...was that blood?

"Ah so you noticed hum? One of my men roughed you up pretty bad. Said you wouldn't come willingly so he had to make you." His voice was strained like he had fluid in his lungs.

"Indeed. I'm afraid my cab has sustained multiple injuries." He wished he could see just how badly he had been harmed. He could only make a field assessment.

"I'm afraid they'll only get worse as time goes on." He leaned down so he could talk directly to Ingo. His breath smelled horrible. "Now...tell me where the map is, hum?" His voice was low and promising.

"Not...here." Ingo whispered to the man. The man smiled as he stood back up.

"Indeed." He snapped his fingers and two men walked into the room. Ingo knew what that meant, especially since the man who was dressed in nice clothing walked out. Rich people didn't get their hands dirty.
