Chapter 25

My Child

Ingo felt bad, he felt really really bad, horribly awful. What's worse is as he ran outside closely followed by the other two they were forced to watch the little girl they promised to protect being taken away by the people that promised to do her harm.

He stood there for a moment regretting everything that led up to this point. At least until he felt the soft fur of his Sneazeler embrace him as if to say 'come on let's go.'

"What are we going to do Ingo? They have her." Ingo heard cheering as he looked back at the brick building that made up the base of the observatory.

What were they going to do? They were just two men, and a teenager. It hadn't stopped him before. Not even a little. He grabbed his pokeballs and released all the pokemon that was in his arsenal. The alpha's seemed to sense his desire. They looked around at the second belt of pokemon that joined them. Even the bunch of Joltiks piled out of three.

Then a third belt of pokemon joined in.

"Mamoswine! Let's bring down that gate!" Akari yelled out

"Oh so, no battles?" Emmet asked. Ingo looked at his brother and chuckled.

"No time, there's a little girl within that building that very well may need our help! Especially after what they did to me." Ingo turned to look at his brother. "I have a score to settle with Mayor Deeds." He reached out touching his brother's shoulder and leaned in whispering. "He tried to take my family from me." Emmet almost looked shocked. His brother was hiding his horrible anger pretty well. But he could feel Ingo's anger through his hand. He was shaking with ferocity.

Lake wished she had a blanket, or even a sandwich. Both...both would be good. Her stomach growled loudly, the last meal she had was that soup the other night. That honey roll tasted so good too.

She sighed loudly as she lay down on her side. It was much too cold for this food thing. She hugged her knees pulling her jacket around and tried her best to stay warm. Sleep pulling at the corners of her eyes. Trying her best not to go to sleep she turned and looked up at the stars through the opening of the observatory.

"Why...Why me?" She asked no one in particular. She gasped as the building rocked. The cage waved back and forth in the effort. Lake curling up into a little ball afraid the cage would fall.

The ground shook again. If she was lucky...

She could hear the sound of angry pokemon a few rooms over.

"Stop you fools! You'll break the foundation! There's a reason why this place was abandoned!" It was the professor that talked to Ingo earlier that day. "The whole place will fall!"

Lake heard him, but nothing really registered; her head felt like it had cotton in it. The side of the building began to fall. With how heavy the observatory was on that side it didn't seem that hard to believe.

Lake tried her best to get out, but she didn't have a key. She curled into a little ball and waited. It was all she could do save for the cry for help, that her throat wouldn't allow. She tried several times to scream, call for help, anything. Her throat hurt so much.

She heard the cracking when she heard Emmet call out for Ingo. She felt the sudden race of gravity as the cage began to follow the telescope. She couldn't understand the sound she heard next though as she hit the side of the cliff that had been created. She hit a few times before the cage rolled to a stop on the cliff side.

The sound she heard was crashing waves, and horrible winds. Snow kept hitting her. She opened her eyes to see that the cage had been broken and she climbed out holding the side of the cliff.

"Lake!" She looked up to see the two people she cared most about trying to reach her. "Try to reach my hand!" Emmet tried. She reached up to grab his hand. But her body didn't want to listen to her.

Ingo called out to her, she looked up into his silver eyes.

"She's not good, Emmet. She's sick, we have to hurry." To put emphasis on what he said Lake began to have a coughing fit, she weaved back and forth and moaned.

"She's going to fall!" Emmet panicked.

Lake felt like two soft pillows were closing in on her. She knew that feeling as it happened a few days ago. She was about to fall asleep, whether she wanted to or not.

She put her hands on her head trying her best to stay awake, but she couldn't stop herself. Passing out wasn't a choice. She leaned against the wall in an attempt to stop herself from falling. It didn't help, she began to fall down into the ocean.

A soft hand braced her. She slowly looked up into Ingo's scared eyes. He sat in a basket upon Lady Sneasels back.

"I have you...she won't let us fall. Come here. You can sleep in my jacket." Ingo's soft voice whispered. She slowly reached up, feeling Ingo pull her into his arms and instantly warmth seemed to wash over her. Those two pillows closed in and held her gently.
