Five hours till the party; Y/N's POV

My arms strain as I snugly fit the cork into the bottle opening, sealing the herbal concoction inside. It's has almost been a full week since I received the invitation to the dinner party, but with the amount of orders Julie and I need to fulfill, it feels like it has been wayyy longer. One things for sure, I definitely need a rest.

"That's the last one for the day, Julie!" I yell to her from the alchemy room, finishing my tiny bit of work for the day. I look at the clock, its hands on 1:30pm.

"Sweet! Come y/n, brunch is readyyyy!" I hear her call out from the kitchen.

I quickly organise the bottles of herbal medicine, and rush over to the kitchen, vigorously rubbing my hands on my beige linen apron. The smell of strawberry pancakes hits my nose as soon as I enter the doorway. There is steaming tea sitting on the table, awaiting my arrival.

Julie is already sitting down, dropping sugar cubes into her floral teacup.

"So... excited for tonight?" She asks with curiosity, resting her chin on her arm as she stirs her tea.

I pull my chair out, eager to eat my breakfast. "Absolutely! It'll be a nice change of scenery."
I smile to her as I cut into my warm pancake and take a bite. I reach for my teacup, this one decorated in little yellow ducks with blue ribbons.

"That's for sure." She chuckles, popping a piece of pancake into her mouth.
"I even heard that Snufkin is going to be there, which is somewhat of a rare occurrence."

I nearly choke on my tea as she says that.

She giggles, "What's the matter, y/n? Is the tea too hot?"

I clear my throat. "Yes, yes. I got a little too eager." I try to laugh it off, but I see Julie smirking to herself.

I was not aware that Snufkin was also attending the dinner party, and now that I know, I feel more stressed than I did all week. My cheeks flush at the thought, but I mentally shoo them away. I haven't spoken to him for a while now, but I do see him pass by the area, however seldom. We do wave to each other, but still.

I still feel like something between us has changed since our last significant encounter. Mutually, we both feel it. Something is different.

"What are you going to wear to the party, Julie?" I ask her, attempting to divert the conversation away from talk about Snufkin.

"Definitely something light, it's going to be a warm evening. Maybe the green cocktail dress I bought from the travelling merchant two years ago..."

I see her ponder to herself, lost in her memory about her green dress.

Thinking back to the clothing I packed, I remember this milkmaid dress the colour of cream. I can pair it with my brown Mary Janes and frilly socks!

We both finish eating brunch, and I sit up to go and clean some dishes.

"Go get ready, y/n! I'll handle it, don't worry."
She flashes me a smile, and I thank her for taking over.

I head over to my bathroom, taking a lavender bath and getting ready to style my hair.
