Damien's POV
I couldn't breathe, she's right there, confused but there's tears welling her eyes, I take a step towards her, a sob breaks out of her and than she's sprinting across the space and I meet her halfway there.
Lea's POV
I dreamed of this moment, maybe I'm still dreaming but I was holding him just as he was holding me, our knees give up and we slide down still embraced. I had broken into a full cry by now, he was sobbing with me or maybe I'm imagining that as well.
"It's fine, I'm here." His voice was like this glass that impaled itself in my heart, it was so soft and broken.
"We have to go now!" Liam exclaims. "Get to the car, we're right behind." I'm too scared to pull back, too scared to pull back and find him just to be an illusion but he pulls back, his hand cups my cheek so gently, his forehead against mines. "We have to leave now!" Liam urges us, Damien grabs my hand tightly and we follow Liam out of the building.
The car was parked right outside the manor and Liam takes the front seat whilst we jump in the back, I hear the shots break through the air and Damien was shielding me with his body, I sensed the fear and rage on his body, I couldn't breathe.
"Just drive Dylan!" I hear Liam yell. The shots and the noise follow us for a good while and than it stops.
"Are they gone?" Dylan asks. Damien unveils me and I sit up looking around.
"I informed them the mission was a success." Liam states. Silence stretches between us for a few minutes. "How did he do it?"
Damien's hand doesn't let go of mines and I don't let go of his neither. "It was all played out, to the truck and the body everyone saw."
"But he kept you for nearly 2 years and not once did you try to escape." Liam sneers from the front seat and Damien glares at the back of Liam's seat. "Not once did you try to reach out for someone."
"Easy both of you." Dylan sighs and than reality crashes onto me. A few minutes later we're home, Liam and Dylan leave the car leaving us alone.
He's staring at his home, at our home and I see confusion behind his frown, he than turns to me and I feel my heart skip a beat as we stare at each other. "I dreamed of seeing you every night."
"Me too." I reply.
A small smile dances on his lips. "Tell me you're scared of whatever is going to happen from now."
Tears roll down my cheeks. "I'm terrified." I agree. "But I have you now."
Damien caresses my cheek. "You will always have me." His gaze roves through me and they land on the glass wound I had gotten earlier. "You're hurt, you're bleeding." Than he's pulling me out of the car with him, he looks a lot thinner and his hair is everywhere and long. His steps slow down as he reaches the house. I give his hand a reassuring squeeze and we walk through the doors.
Dylan's POV
I knew what was coming the moment I realized that Damien Hammet was alive but I couldn't find myself to care about it, my heart and mind just seem very keen to keeping Lea happy but it hurt to see it, it hurt enough for me not to say anything in front of her, it hurt enough for me not to ask if she's okay or how she's been doing this past week.
I sigh and stare at my reflection in the bathroom mirror, it's going to hurt to walk away as well.
Lea's POV
"You need rest Mr. Hammet, lots of it. Food and fluids are just as important as rest, we won't know how deep all that has affected your body until much later on. We're talking about mental health and issues, we don't know what you've been through, it might require brain scans and xrays." Dr. Been expresses. Damien returns a tight nod. Dr. Been than turns to me. "No weight on that leg for now." He instructs.
