Chapter 33

I was nervous despite Damien having said that our guest is a friend, I look down at my clothes, a white button down tucked into a high waisted grey pants.
Damien and the other guys were in their black shirts with black pants, Liv was in a yellow dress that covered her pregnant belly, Alexa was in a light blue tunic with black jeans, Dylan said he would prefer not to come and is upstairs packing, Liam is against the wall, emotionless, he had said anything since he came.

"How long until he gets here?" James asks pacing across the wide hallway entrance.

Damien rolls his eyes. "You took longer getting here when I called you back."

I smile when I think back to how nervous I was before meeting James, i was quite literally a wreck. I pull myself back from my emotions as soon as I hear cars outside.
Damien gives my hand a squeeze and I smile at him, I thread my arm through his elbow and we move to greet our guest.
The sound of heels click loudly through our marble floors as our guest enters our home, I quite nearly stumble over my own feet as Damien steadies me and before he can ask anything the gentleman from last night was already holdings out his hand for me to shake.

"It is lovely to see you again Mrs. Hammet." The dancer greets with a cheeky smile.

"You-" I breathe still confused shaking his hand.

"You know each other?" Damien asks from beside me.

"We had a lovely dance last night at the Yests." The gentleman replies. "I'm Elijah Dawson." He drops a kiss on my knuckles, my cheeks heated and I smile at his charm, Damien's hand skimmed up my spine.

"I'm happy you accepted my invitation Elijah." Damien interrupts.

"I'm not here to steal your wife Damien." Elijah grins and hugs Damien, catching probably everyone off guard even Damien himself, I'm tempted to laugh as Damien hugs Elijah back.

"Let me introduce you to my friends." Damien says walking ahead to introduce the others.
Liv had joined at my side.

"I know this may be a wrong time to say this, but I miss you, i miss you so much Lea." Liv expresses.

"You know I'm right here for you, whenever you need me." I say hugging my best friend, she nods.

"Ladies-" Drew calls for us.

"Hammet, I have to say I'm impressed by your people, you have quite a few good hands." Elijah says taking my arm through his elbow before I can reach for Damien. "I did hear you had a traitor though."

I glance back at Alex and Alexa for a second before turning my attention back to Elijah. "Well I wouldn't exactly call her traitor, we don't know her story yet, maybe she had no other choice-"

"A good heart will never allow you to win this fight." He interrupts. We had arrived at the dino hall where a table was already set, he pushed a chair for me before fitting it back and takes the seat on the other side of me. "We have to show him you're ruthless and worthy of winning this. We have to show everyone."

The thought has my stomach turning. "I don't know if I like that part."

"You have no say in what you like or don't like, this is a war Hammet, you get in, get all dirty, but you win doing so." Elijah counters, his voice is a lot more stern than the gentleman who walked in, he was facing me on the chair, a dark gleam on his eyes, his face was too close for my liking. "You will find a dark side of you that you will hate, you will want to burn it, get rid of it but it stays and you're going to hate yourself so much, you'll be thinking of death a lot more-"

"Elijah." Damien warns from his seat at the head, I'm usually seated beside him so this new seating arrangements has me uneasy.
