The Broken Avenger

Chapter Two: 20 Years Later

Kida was sparring with her partners in one of the six training rooms. The lady always encouraged her to use her powers against people. But, she just couldn't do it against her friends. Her partners were twins. Hydra had given Kida and the twins names for their reputations. Kida was known around the world as The Shadow Soldier. As for the twins, they were known as The Twins of Destruction.

But of course, Hydra had to get specific with them individually. So The youngest was known as The Luna Soldier. And the oldest is known as The Dark Soldier. Kida had a record of over 4 dozen assassinations around the globe. As for the Twins, they had a little over 3 dozen assassinations around the globe. All of them were wanted in 45 countries and 12 states.

Sometimes, memories came back to her from assignments. She could sometimes hear their cries and screams in her head. They haunt her as she slept. But she couldn't control what she was doing. There was something about what that lady says that made her snap; trigger words more or less. And when she woke, all she saw was the damage that she had caused. The fear that she had struck in people's minds. Kida always dreaded the thought of all that blood on her hands. She meant absolutely no harm to all of those people. But, what she did was out of her control.

Anyways, Kida snapped out of it when Madame Em walked into the room ad spoke her name.

"I have an assignment for you Shadow Soldier. Come," she said standing in the doorway. Kida walked over to the door way, and she guided her into a room.

She was put into the room and the lady shut the door. There was a large glass panel on the other side of the room. It was one way glass but she could see right through it. She focused her hearing when she heard people coming towards the room. She heard three heart beats. Two are normal, with the third beating fast. There were three men coming. And one of them wasn't a soldier. She could hear that he is getting hit anytime he resisted. Then the door to the room opened and a man is thrown inside. Kida heard Madame Em's voice over a speaker.

"This is a S.H.I.E.L.D agent. He hasn't given any Intel on their next move. Your assignment; kill him." Then she said something that made her snap. She turned towards the man, pulled out her gun, and pressed it to his forehead. She locked eyes with him. A single tear trickled down his face.

'Please don't do this. Please,' he mouthed, but that doesn't shake her at all. Then she realized that the only reason why he hasn't given any Intel on S.H.I.E.L.D, is because he's not even an agent. This is just another civilian that they kidnapped and put in these clothes. She knew that she couldn't kill him.

Unfortunately, her actions weren't up to her. With the last bit of her conscious mind, she put the gun to her head, and pull the trigger. Kida felt the bullet rip through her skull and through her brain. Then she blacked out. Slowly the brain tissue filled in the gaps made by the bullet with fresh new tissue. And her skull, extended itself to fit the hole created by the bullet. Her skin just filled in the hole. When she regained consciousness, she woke. She sat up and looked at the man that she was supposed to kill. He had a shocked/scared expression on his face. But he mouthed, 'Thank you.', to her. She could hear the lady talking to the scientist in the room next to her.

"Experiment not a total fail. We have now learned that she can regenerate from her wounds. This is a whole new break through for us gentlemen. The serum injected into her blood stream seems to show a large amount growth. Almost as if it adapts to whatever The Shadow Soldier puts her body through. Interesting."

What was she talking about? Kida thought. Then the alarm sounded. She looked at the one-way glass. She saw Madame Em being rushed out of the room. She heard them say something about the Twins of Destruction. That made her heart sink because she knew that they were going to activate them as well. The door opened, and the guards lifted Kida off the floor. Madame Em said the word again, and she snapped once more.
