I bolted forward towards the generator room.
This couldn't be happening... this couldn't be it.
The one thing I'd tried so hard to prevent was unfolding right in front of me. I thought I could make everything end here. Turns out, this wasn't true in the slightest.
It was spiraling out of control...
I finally reached the room as Deathstroke was entering the portal.
"Don't do it!" I yelled as I blasted lightning at him.
Unfortunately... I was too late.
With a sinister smile, Deathstroke vanished into the portal, right before my lightning struck him. Not like it would have done anything, but I couldn't just stand there watching him go in.
"This is bad," I muttered, completely out of breath. "I'm going back."
Then, another familiar voice came behind me.
"So... you failed,"
I froze.
It was her.
Of all the people I'd met since my banishment, she was the last person I expected to be standing by my side. Our initial encounter was anything but friendly. I'd once thought of her as pure evil. In fact, I assumed her to be one of the final bosses of my fight for freedom.
But people are complicated. Even the ones you presume to be the worst can turn out to be the opposite. She perfectly fit the description to be one of them.
"Yeah... he's gone," I admitted with a shaky voice. "Ninjago... I'm gonna have to go there."
"That place? Good luck, I guess,"
"That's all you're gonna say?"
She leaned in and kissed me.
All my doubts vanished as the grounded, reassuring feeling replaced them.
"Look, I'm not good at this, but... you've probably grown a lot as a person since that day. You know the truth behind everything. So, you can do this."
...
She's right. It shouldn't have been motivational, but it was to me.
"It's just us now," I sighed. "Everyone else is dead. All the governments are in chaos after everything that's been leaked. The Vipers main base is gone and their other bases are disappearing. We technically won, but if we let him go, Deathstroke and those two will come back even stronger and do much more damage,"
...
"So, I need to put a stop to this,"
...
"So, who's going to go? Will you or I put a stop to this,"
"I did work well with the Ninja. I don't know now, but I'll probably have a better shot,"
"Cool..."
She tilted her head toward the night sky, staring as if she was searching for answers among the stars. A faint smile touched her lips, and for a moment, she seemed lost in thought, like she always did.
"The stars always seem so peaceful," she said softly.
I followed her gaze, letting the quiet moment wash over me.
"It's like... complete tranquility,"
"It's what the city could be," she murmured, "if Deathstroke and The Vipers never existed. No... if all evil disappeared."
I glanced at her. "Do you think it's possible?"
Her lips curved into a softer, heartfelt smile. "The second part, no. But the first... what do you think?"
"That's good," I said with a nod, preparing myself for what was to come. "I'll be heading off now."
She turned to face me.
"Is this our end?"
It isn't," I promised, my voice low and earnest. "And when this is all over, I want to offer you something - a gift that'll... well, it's better show than tell."
...
...
"Okay... promise me you'll be okay, or don't,"
"I will," I laughed. "I'll end this,"
I turned toward the portal. My nervousness spiked with every step I took, but determination chased right after. It's kind of like a car hurtling toward a ramp, prepared for the leap ahead.
"Here goes nothing, old friend,"
I stepped into the portal, closing my eyes.
This was the beginning of the end.
Ninjago, here I come... again.
