THE BRUNETTE GIRL LIFTED a hand and angled her clock toward her, checking the time.
She let out an exhausted sigh. "Why do we have to go at night." Jayden mumbled, standing from her bed. She grabbed a Smiths t-shirt that had been hanging on the back of her desk chair, throwing it on over her short tank-top.
She grabbed the hairbrush from her desk, entering her bathroom and quickly brushing through her hair, getting rid of any knots or tangles that might've formed from her nap. That's when she heard the faint voice of her friend Dustin come from her walkie-talkie.
"Lucas, you copy! I've got four quarters. What's your haul?" His grainy voice spoke. Jayden listened with a smile as she grabbed her lace-ups, slipping them on her feet and tying them up.
"Take your puny haul and multiply it by five." Lucas bragged. The Harrington girl let out a quiet laugh.
"How?"
Lucas let out a smug laugh. "While you were scrounging around like a homeless bum, I mowed Old Man Humphrey's lawn"
That's when Jayden finally joined the conversation. "Congratulations, Lucas."
Dustin ignored the girl. "Old man Humphrey's got that kinda cash?" He asked, sounding amazed.
Lucas sighed, ignoring his questions. " Can one of youcall Mike already."
